The Poland trade involving Aldridge, Bayless, and LaFrentz for Amare is dead because apparently Blazer wants Nash rather than Amare.
I just want to know what do you guys think? I think it's stupid that we didn't pull the trigger if the rumor is true.

The deal Portland was discussing with Phoenix involved LaMarcus Aldridge, Jerryd Bayless, and Raef LaFrentz's $12.7 million expiring contract. "That deal is dead," the person familiar with the talks said. One reason could be that Portland is really looking to acquire an elite point guard, according to an NBA team executive. That begs the question of whether Portland G.M. Kevin Pritchard was asking for Steve Nash. But according to another rival executive, the Suns have made it clear that Nash, Grant Hill, and Leandro Barbosa are "untouchable."

Wtf.. this is an even better deal than before.

Wed have a rookie PG with Dragic as our backup but wed have our PG of the future, and Aldridge and Amare would be our bigs for the future. (and present)

i think keep hill and barbs is good, making them "untouchable". their contracts are great for what they contribute.
hill is old, but he still contributes to everything in a positive way.
barbs is a sparkplug of the bench and seem to improving his all around game.

nash is old as well, but he continues to be hurt, making turnovers, scoring less, and becoming unclutch.

imo, nash shouldnt be labled "untouchable". he's been great for what he's done in phx, but i dont think that constitutes him being "untouchable".

assuming amare doesnt opt-out...

we keep amare, shaq's contract is gone in less than 2yrs.
we might have a little extra to get some quality role players.

Assuming Amare doesn't opt out is not the question....He WILL opt out if Porter is still the coach. There is no doubt about that one.

What's the problem with trading Nash? Throw in a couple of first rounders, and say "thank you, have a nice day." Or give them Nash and Trade Amare to Chicago or OKC.

ridiculous. I would be extremely happy with that trade. And if Amare needs to go to, trade him for other young players and cap relief so we are stocke for 2010.

Who really wants to play in Poland anyway?
Nowitzki?

By the way, Nash for Aldridge/LaFrentz/Bayless doesn't work under the cap (you'd need to add at least Barbosa to make it work). That's some really credible rumor...

I would think Nash might prefer Portland over the Suns. They probably have a better chance of winning.

Nash, LB, Tucker, for Aldridge, Batum (or Rudy), Bayless, Blake, LaFrentz

Shaq/Amare/Hill/JRich/Bayless(Blake)
Aldridge/Batum/Blake/Lou/Barnes

We could have a real athletic team to play defense and Aldridge/Amare/Batum/JR/Bayless would be incredible starting 5 in 2010

this is EXACTLY why it was rummored that the suns wanted Hinrich in a deal with Amare to Chicago.

would have worked out perfectly IMO.

Amare to Chicago, Nash to Portland.....and a whole slew of youth to the suns in return. sadly....our management is ********.

Doesn't work under the cap either, you'll need to get rid of at least Batum/Fernandez (Sarver would veto it anyway, since that trade would add roughly 3.5M$ to the Suns salary structure).

Suns fans have to realize that the blazers are very good at talent evals and they apparently still see nash as an elite PG. This means that they think the suns have just screwed up in assembling a roster and making a plan for that roster. I am inclined to agree.

Portland does not make many mistakes in regard to talent. I think Nash can still get it done for most teams that are not conflicted with different styles of play and poor coaching.

I think that realgm might be the worst source ever and that this trade was never anywhere but in the minds of bloggers. Especially after listening to Steve Kerr talk about how no one is "untouchable" and that as a GM he's constantly looking at everything. Gambo also said that this deal was never even on the table.

Figured after the Shaq deal last year that everyone would realize that internet rumors are mostly just nonsense.

LOL! No idea where you're getting your info from...

This wasnt a RealGM rumor, it was from CBS Sports. It wasnt from bloggers, it was from a sports journalist. And RealGM doesnt report blog rumors, they source all their rumors to various news agencies around the nation. However, some veteran posters on certain forums within RealGM are notorious for breaking trades before theyre announced. This is fact, plain and simple.

Why do you take Kerr's word for ultimate truth and not reported news stories? Figured last year after Kerr said they were keeping the core together then traded Marion for Shaq the following week that you would realize that front office statements are mostly PR moves. Oh, and a reliable poster on RealGM was the first to break the Shaq news, a week before it happened and days before national media got a hold of it.

Gambo has been wrong, inaccurate and completely off base more often than he is right. And the only time he is right is when the front office spoon feeds him info they want public.

That's a whole lotta fail man...

Also guys, the new info doesn't say Portland is gunning for Nash. It just says elite point guard. there could could zero discussions currently going on between phx and portland now.

Oh good god. When is this team going to realize that you can't have one foot in the water and one foot out. If they want to rebuild this trade makes TOO much sense.

Trade Nash and get back Aldridge and Bayless? I would add Barbosa and whatever else they wanted. Then we could trade Amare for more goods.

Actually there is no way in hell that trade is Nash for Bayless and Aldridge. That wouldnt make any sense for Portland.

Just send them both and lets make it a block buster. Aldridge, Bayless, Outlaw, Frye and a pick for Nash and Amare and filler.

Sarver is an idiot. He needs to realize that only winning is what matters. Not the name Nash.
