Supposed to be reality but I agree, it didn't seem real. 2 sons of Bruce Jenner growing up in Malibu with their mom, and stepdad who's apparently a record producer.

Seemed pretty staged to me, although it didn't appear the stepdad had seen the script since he kept going ballistic.

If it's real, their mom needs to take some serious parenting classes, she lets her sons (21 and 23) get away with anything and then keeps helping them out when the dad gets mad.

I got sunburned Saturday so I spent sunday watching a bunch of tv, I saw this, the new Hulk Hogan reality show, and the new Surreal Life. All 3 were pretty entertaining.

The Princes of Malibu

Sundays at 8:30 ET/PT on FOX

Malibu slackers Brandon and Brody Jenner must face the music – in the form of their step-dad, the legendary musician, composer, arranger and producer David Foster – in 'The Princes of Malibu.'

The series reveals a family that has everything – a 22-acre compound by the sea, fabulous cars, bank accounts to dream of and looks to die for. But although their luxuries are extraordinary, they have the same types of problems as any other blended family: David wants his stepsons to contribute to the household, get jobs or get out; and Linda Thompson, their mother, doesn't mind her boys taking the time to "find their way" while enjoying the fruits of David's labors.

Set in the ritzy, sun-drenched environs of tony Malibu, CA, the series uncovers the humorous situations that arise as Brandon (23) and Brody (21) live the high life while trying to coexist with the irate Foster and their doting mother.

A Reality Couple's Real Life Split

July 28, 2005

Super-producer David Foster is best-known for arranging Grammy-winning songs for Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. But TV viewers got to see a wilder side of him on FOX's reality show "The Princes of Malibu," as he screamed and raged while trying to rein in his party-hearty stepsons Brandon and Brody.

Now, after just two episodes, the "Princes of Malibu" has been cancelled, the family's 22-acre mansion has been sold and David and wife Linda Thompson, who also appeared on the show, are splitting up. She filed for divorce on July 11, citing irreconcilable differences.

"I don't take marriage lightly, obviously," Linda says about the split. "There are many reasons why I can't continue in this marriage, and David and I know what they are."

The family hit the spotlight when 23-year-old Brandon and his privileged younger brother Brody, 21, pitched a show to FOX about two ultra-rich kids and their frustrated step-pop. (Their birth father is Linda's ex-husband, medalist Bruce Jenner.)

"My parents were horrified," Brody has told "The Insider." "At first, they were kinda like, 'Good! Yeah, I'm glad you guys are doing this.' But as soon as things started to take off and the promo came out and they really got to see what was on the show, we had a few pretty big, family arguments."

Linda says that she objected to the 24/7 TV camera crews invading her home for "The Princes of Malibu."

"I did that show as a favor to my sons because they said, 'Mom, there's good news and there's bad news. The good news is we've sold a show to FOX. The bad news is you're in it.' So I didn't really welcome the cameras into my home and I didn't welcome that intrusion into my private life. Although I did it for them and parts of it were a lot of fun."

Despite the fallout, at least one of the Foster family members is poised for success. Brandon's band Big Dume has released its first CD, Inside My Head, which is in stores now. Brandon says his influences for the group are Ben Harper, Jeff Buckley, John Lee Hooker and Ween.

"Brandon has worked tremendously hard," Linda says. "He's done everything himself. For both of my children, I wake up every night praying that they'll be successful in every arena of life. I want for them a full life that's rich in every area."
