You know what's coming because it's Friday; also known as Ask The Maven Day. Today's question comes from Natalie Atwood of Flatbush, Brooklyn. Take it away, Natalie:

"WITH THE REGULAR SEASON OVER FOR THE RANGERS, WHAT ARE THE OFFSEASON PRIORITIES FOR THE TEAM?"

The Maven's Response: In the case of Madison Square Garden, the top issues will be dealt with by owner Jim Dolan. He has to decide whether it's in the club's best interest to retain Chris Drury and Peter Laviolette. Or, keep Drury and find a new coach.

Whether Drury is retained or not, the dead wood has to be discarded if possible. Start with Chris Kreider for one. He may be sought by the Bruins or a California team. For trading purposes, the appealing prospect is K'Andre Miller, the most disappointing of the defenders. Similarly Alexis Lafreniere of the forwards who has not lived up to his billing or salary.

With the Rangers 100th anniversary celebrations coming up next fall, the club has plenty of marketing ideas in mind but they are more minor priorities compared to reshaping of the hockey team.

My prediction is that Dolan will soon begin his decision-making and – if nothing else – it will be beyond melodramatic once changes begin to be made.
