... that Whis is *not* going to get fired, and Kolb is going to be our QB for awhile. Might as well get used to it and build on the positives (like the first half). This team will be better next year, but this season is a lost cause, aside from learning the 'system' for the players.

I honestly dont think Whiz survives this unless they dramatically improve. And the next head coach probably will not want to hitch his career to a pile of garbage like Kolb.

So, there is the silver lining. Kolb will probably have to earn his slot under a new coach next year, and his talent will not allow him to do so.

But we are probably stuck with Graves.

The team would really have to tank for Whiz to lose his job, but they are still playing...maybe by week 14 the coaches will be ready for the season.

Really have to tank...? You mean like the last two seasons? Or does it get worse?

Time for a new GM, New Coaching, and new everything.

If the team continues to play the way it has the last 6 games I can't see Whis staying regardless of the years left on his contract.

He will definitely get one more year. With the lockout and all that uncertainty plus all the money invested I would be willing to bet any member of this board's life but my own he will be here next season. :D

No question. Ownership will give him at least one more year, in consideration of the lockout and new QB, and coordinators.

If we end up 3-13, you think Whiz keeps his job??? I think fans would go nuts and ownership (if it cares at all) would have to can his sorry butt. Then again, we have the worst ownership in professional sports, so anything is possible, I guess.

Does it get worse? See Green's last season, see McGinnis' last season, see Tobin's last season...we have the second half of the season to start getting blown out. Worst case scenario, we will go 7-1 and see no changes this off-season to coaching staff or GM.

The worst ownership in professional sports? Try not having the richest owners in professional sports. They could not just spend the money that they don't have back before University of Phoenix Stadium. The havey been very aggressive and spent a lot of money. Maybe they're having the wrong people make the wrong decisions but they certainly IMO are doing their part. If you want to count having half the revenue as a level playing field for decades and judge them on that you're entitled to it.

If ownership would cut their ties with our current GM and hire someone...oh, much more competent enough to run football operations, I would feel much better about the future.

I am in full agreement with this, except I think Graves is gone too. This is a colossal $60 million dollar failed experiment. Graves signed off on it. If Wiz is done, so is Graves. Kolb is the $60 million anchor. Some will say this could be the biggest failure in Cardinals history, but to me if it gets rid of Whisenhunt and Graves it will be the best $60 million the Cardinals ever invested. I'm so done with both of them.

Whiz may survive but the fact is he should not. Neither should Graves. If they do then no surprise because that is what the Cards do. you do not pay two salaries for the same position in our organization,

I think next week might be a bigger game for Whis than we realize. If we win, he has some sort of momentum going on the road trip, and ownership is likely placated a bit. However, if we get blown out next week, all bets might be off. The Bidwills hate losing to St. Louis. Combining a loss to St. Louis with a potential 10 game losing streak would have to enrage the guys who write the checks.

As for Graves, paying out the rest of his contract could be a lot cheaper than letting him sign even more FA busts. How much has this team wasted on the likes of Stewart Bradley, Terrance Holt, Al Johnson, Joey Porter, etc?

If you don't think ownership is the problem, you're kidding yourself. Doesn't matter who the GM, coach, or players are. Ownership has never done what it takes to win on a consistent basis.

We made some effort this offseason to improve, but our roster is largely void of talent. It all starts at the top.

Whiz has 2 years left on his contract after this year. At $5.75 million per year. I can't see the Bidwells paying $11.5 mil for Whiz to "go away". Some people think they'd sacrifice the final year though at $5.75 mil. I doubt that even. At least if it's Bidwill Sr making the call. Bidwill Jr - maybe?

According to the Washington Examiner:

Highest paid NFL coaches
(Yearly salary)
1. Bill Belichick, Patriots, $7.5 million
2. Mike Shanahan, Redskins, $7 million
3. Pete Carroll, Seahawks, $6.7 million
4. (tie) Jeff Fisher, Titans, $5.75 million
4. (tie) Mike Tomlin, Steelers, $5.75 million
4. (tie) Ken Whisenhunt, Cardinals, $5.75 million
7. Andy Reid, Eagles, $5.5 million
8. Tom Coughlin, Giants, $5.25 million
9. Jack Del Rio, Jaguars, $5 million
10. Lovie Smith, Bears, $4.8 million
