It's been 25 years since Michigan State won its last basketball national championship. Here are the players and coaches on that title-winning team.
MATEEN CLEAVES
6-2, senior, guard
Hometown: Flint
Role: Cleaves was the Spartans' point guard and unquestioned leader, on and off the floor. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.9 assists in 31.5 minutes per game.
MORRIS PETERSON
6-7, senior, forward
Hometown: Flint
Role: Peterson was MSU's top offensive player and also evolved into a top defender later in his career. He averaged 16.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in 29.1 minutes per game.
CHARLIE BELL
6-2, junior, guard
Hometown: Flint
Role: Bell was a steady force in the backcourt with Cleaves. He averaged 11.5 points and was an excellent defensive player and rebounder for a guard, grabbing 4.9 boards in 27.6 minutes per game.
ANDRE HUTSON
6-8, junior, forward
Hometown: Dayton, Ohio
Role: Hutson was the Spartans' consistent low-post presence on both ends of the court. He averaged 10.2 points and a team-high 6.2 rebounds in 27.1 minutes per game.
A.J. GRANGER
6-9, senior, forward
Hometown: Findlay, Ohio
Role: Granger was the least heralded of the MSU starters but found another gear late in the season and was critical to the tournament run. He averaged 9.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per game.
JASON RICHARDSON
6-6, freshman, guard
Hometown: Saginaw
Role: Richardson didn't hit his stride offensively until his sophomore season, but he was a big part of the 2000 team as a freshman with his dynamic athleticism and rebounding. He averaged 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.7 minutes a game.
MIKE CHAPPELL
6-9, junior, forward
Hometown: Southfield
Role: Chappell transferred to MSU after two seasons at Duke and was a key player off the bench for the Spartans. His 3-pointer in the title game against Florida soon after Mateen Cleaves left with an ankle injury in the second half helped sooth MSU fans and to fend off the Gators. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14.4 minutes a game.
ALOYSIUS ANAGONYE
6-8, freshman, forward
Hometown: Southfield
Role: Anagonye wasn't a big scorer but provided some rebounding and defensive muscle off the bench for the championship team. He averaged 2.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in just 13.6 minutes a game.
DAVID THOMAS
6-7, junior, guard
Hometown: Brampton, Ontario, Canada
ADAM BALLINGER
6-9, freshman, forward
Hometown: Bluffton Indiana
BRANDON SMITH
5-11, junior, guard
Hometown: Rochelster, N.Y.
MAT ISHBIA

Assistants: Stan Heath, Mike Garland, Brian Gregory, Dave Owens
