A pair of dual-threat quarterbacks highlight the roster of high school seniors from the area selected to play in Saturday afternoon’s HD All-Star Classic.

Barstow’s Dwayne Williams and Apple Valley’s Jake Higgs will share snaps at quarterback in the annual High Desert All-Star Football Game.

Higgs, a three-time Daily Press All-Area selection, ended his senior year with 1,632 passing yards and another 561 on the ground, to go along with 32 combined touchdowns. Williams, named the Desert Sky League’s Most Valuable Player, threw for 1,118 yards and ran for 803 yards, to go along with 25 combined touchdowns.

Apple Valley head coach Robert Meras leads the Victor Valley squad after guiding the Sun Devils to a second-place finish in the Mojave River League and the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 semifinals. The Antelope Valley is led by Anthony Coleman, who guided Palmdale to the CIF-SS Division 12 championship.

The game, which is put on by IE Sports Net and sponsored by ReMax Freedom, will be held at Victor Valley College on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Here’s a look at the game, including the rosters for the two squads:

By the numbers

  • 3 — The number of wins that both squads have in the six all-star meetings, dating back to 2016. The Victor Valley won two of three meetings from 2016 to 2018, and over the last three seasons, the Antelope Valley has won two of three, including last year’s matchup.
  • 9 — Players that received All-CIF-Southern Section honors in 2024, including five from Apple Valley.
  • 13 — The amount of total points scored between the two all-star squads in the 2024 game. The Victor Valley team won 28-14 in 2023, and Antelope Valley won 12-8 in 2022.
  • $15 — The cost of general admission, with children and students at $13
  • 18 — Players on the Victor Valley squad that were named to the 2024 Daily Press All-Area team.
  • 74.25 — The average height of the Victor Valley’s offensive linemen is 74.25 inches, which is 6-feet-2. Apple Valley’s Issac Matthews is the tallest at 6-foot-5, while three others are listed at 6-foot-4.
  • 1,364 — The total number of combined rushing yards from the Victor Valley’s two quarterbacks. Should we expect a lot of run plays behind a monstrous offensive line?
