I was flipping through a recent edition of the Sporting News and came across discussion about the MLB trade deadline, where they picked winners and losers.

Arizona was listed as one of the losers, with this quotable as to why.

Diamondbacks-- The Padres can be had in the N.L. West; why didn't Arizona press harder?

The Diamondbacks keep adding relievers who were dumped by other clubs-- left hander Buddy Groom (Yankees) being the latest example.

I know this is an older topic, but exactly what was Arizona to do? Squander future stars like Jackson or Quentin for an average closer like Baez? Blow the farm system to hell and trade for Burnett?
