An 11th overall draft pick himself, NFL legend JJ Watt is more-than-qualified to give this year's picks some words of wisdom.
On the first night of the draft in Green Bay, the Wisconsin native had a tip for the draftees.
"After you’re done with the phone calls, media interviews, photo shoots, etc… Head over to Culver’s. You’re welcome," Watt said in a post on X, along with a pic of what looks to be the former "JJ's Way" meal: A Culver's Deluxe, cheese curds, a signature Culver's root beer and a turtle sundae made with chocolate custard.
When an X user commented "#Ad" on Watt's post, which has racked up 30,000 likes, Watt promised it was not.
"Just an honest recommendation," he replied. "And something I wish I had in front of me at this very moment."
With the illustrious football career Watt has had, could this perhaps be some kind of secret sauce?
Watt became an All-American during his time as a Wisconsin Badger. He was selected as the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, brought into the league by the Houston Texans. He spent 10 seasons with the franchise, during which he won three NFL defensive player of the year awards, which was a tie for the most in league history. Watt played for the Arizona Cardinals before announcing his retirement in 2022.
He's remained in the spotlight since — just in a different capacity.
He's starred in commercials and has made regular appearances on popular sports-talk shows. In June 2023, he announced he'd be a CBS Sports NFL studio analyst starting that fall. Watt has appeared on the CBS pregame studio show and first called a game in the booth for Netflix on Christmas Day.
This fall, he'll be an NFL TV game analyst on CBS.
Watt will be eligible for selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the Class of 2028.
