details say:

"The ring was issued to a player who is 6' 2" tall and weights approximately 210 pounds. The ring is a size 12. It fits both his left and right "Ring" finger. It is NOT a lineman's sized ring."

who would that be?

according to this, Fransisco and Edge are the 2 former players that are closest to the size described. Fransisco is by far the closest tho, and he is a Colt now, I hope Q or THT runs him over.

Isn't this the same ring we were debating last week? Sounds like it didn't sell...The previous price was $28k.

Apparently being a free agent doesnt pay the bills when you spent money you didnt have. Shame he is selling his ring, that is something to be proud of.

You don't have any idea what he did or didn't do with his money. Nor what his cicumstances are. Lame.

It's not hard to put two and two together. Professional athletes are horrible with their money, look at how many ex-players are broke. And those are guys that were full time players, not ones bouncing around from team to team.

The ring comes with an appraisal of roughly 9,900.00 . It has all the details and its not the finest diamonds you can get,but its a boat load of gold and craftsmanship. Its rhodium plated white gold & you could get a jeweler in any town that works and makes jewelry to take Keyes' name off of the ring and put your own name on it.

The sizing of a ring like that is also the last problem you would ever have to worry about. You can do a ton of things to size it up or down to fit anyone.

I just hope when WE WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR that Mr.Bidwill will go with a much better design and he will get some of the finest rubies(since we have an embargo with Myanmar or Burma we can't use Burmese Rubies) they are the finest.

Some of the African rubies have a fine quality but you'll have to have matched ones and thats tough to do.The cardinal needs to be of Rubies and Black diamonds and the beak in Yellow saphires.Plus higher quality diamonds and more of them.

It might be the last ring we get for a while,so we best make the most of it when we get OUR'S this year. They won't be done until around this time next season or really around August. The money for the rings will come off of our players salary cap too.Thats been league policy.Unless there is no cap.

The steelers went all out on the ring they made for last years win.Its the most guady ring ever made for the NFL Champions.6 nice diamonds of size to go along with the many other accent diamonds.

CANT WAIT!!!:D

You are saying that the cost of the ring is deducted from each players paycheck. That sounds about right, because it would be considered additional compensation according to league rules.

If that is the case, and it probably is true, it's a very lame ruling by the league. And makes all the more sense why a PS paid player would be selling the ring. Those guys don't make that much.

Well, given his initial signing bonus was a reported 12,500 and he was on the practice squad for all of 1 week last year with the Cardinals, his total compensation from us was probably $17700. He did not sign onto another PS that I can find last season, so I'm willing to say you should work on your putting 2 and 2 together. He didn't make much money last year, at least not from football, got a ring he had very little part in earning and probably would never really feel belongs to him, and likely is a fan of shelter and food, both of which are tough to get on $17,700 a year.

From what i read, he blew his calf out in camp this year and was paid a injury settlement, not sure the amount of that, but I would like to think it would be enough to "get by" for a little bit. Sell the BMW, Benz, whatever he decided to buy to show off to the cougars in Scottsdale with and move on. I understand the part of not "earning" the ring, but even as a ps player you help the team prepare for games. That and he went to UCLA and if he played 4 years for the bRuins, like i read, I would hope he got a degree.

I really don't think the players paid for their NFC rings--it is an award, like a trophy.

you realize those settlements aren't that large either, right?

especially for PS players who don't really have any large contracts, team commitments, etc

it's a pretty small # usually and put out there as a carrot for those who you now just can't cut

you assume way too much

UDFAs who get cut in camp don't make a lot of $$$

getting signed for 1 week to the PS isn't going to make you a lot of $$

coming into the camp next year with his status does not equal big $$$ either

these guys can't afford to live lavishly until they make that active roster

i doubt this guy made enough $$ in his entire pro career to buy a new mid series luxury import

As you notice I said "get by". Nowhere in there did I say that he made millions for being a ps player. You have heard of loans right? Last I checked, if you play pro sports people will give you anything you want. Shoot LeBron had a H2 in high school. What if he blew his knee out and couldnt go pro? He was SCREWED. All I am trying to say is it would not suprise me if he bit off more than he could chew.

No he wasn't - lebron had plenty of advance money before he got out of school

Plus guys like lebron get insurance policies that will insure some wealth and future earning potential under the circumstance that they get injured and cannot play

Guys who are practice squad athletes aren't any different to a loan officer

So - you only have one job, it's not secured at all as shown by you getting cut this summer - now you received a $12,000 check with no guarantee of future earnings and expect a loan to cover the extra $60k in value?!

best of luck with that in these lending times

don't confuse a guy whose name i've already forgotten and who this thread is partially about and a guy like lebron james or any other superstar athlete

sure, he will get athlete perks - but getting out of a speeding ticket, getting some free dinners, maybe an envelope with a couple grand stuffed into it every now and again or some free tires doesn't equate to what you are suggesting

also, although he could get by on $40k - $50k which is probably close to what he earned including the injury settlement over the course of 16 months it far from affords a lavish lifestyle which you are painting

you know nothing of this guy other than your own suppositions

I should have made that part clearer.Yes these are awards given to the players and it comes off the top of the teams salary cap.No player has ever paid for a ring or many times the team also makes smaller replica's of the Lombardi trophy to give to each of the players also.

So it is all up to the owner to decide how much to spend and to what degree he will go with the rings and other things he decides to shower on his team and staff and many other outsiders normally end up with this stuff too.Its all up to the owner.

I knew one owner that hired a design staff to show many designs and then one was picked.I heard 3 steelers designed last years ring.So who knows.Hayes never paid for that ring but he sure is trying to get more than the appraised value for it.I don't blame him.I have certain sports items up for sale also.

Been collecting for 10 years and I have up around 20K of stuff right now myself.:D

So was the sack belt that Travis Laboy came up with last year for the Cardinals sack leader. It's value was placed at about 12-15K, and which Laboy paid for, if I recall correctly. Yet in that case the league, stepped in and said it would be considered additional compensation if given to a specific player.

I wasn't aware the league stepped in on that, but he had done it with the Titans as well and I didn't hear how it ended up with us but I know there every week the player got to keep it, but at the end of the year they all signed it and auctioned it off giving the proceeds to charity.
