Tarantino Boards New Friday the 13th Movie?
Source: IGN Filmforce
March 7, 2005

IGN Filmforce is reporting that "Kill Bill" helmer Quentin Tarantino is in talks to write and direct The Ultimate Jason Voorhees, a new "Friday the 13th" movie at New Line Cinema.

While Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash never came together, this new project will be a co-venture between New Line and Paramount Pictures. The site adds that the movie is on the fast-track and could get underway as early as this year.

A rep at William Morris Agency told the site that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job, however.

I'd love to see what Quentin would do with this project.

Okay but if he casts any combination of Uma Thurman, Michael Madsen or Harvey Keitel.... I ain't watching it.

They are all great actors, but him only casting "his people" is getting Dennis Green like ridiculous

anywho

i think he should be able to cast revolta, as long as he dies. any movie with revolta being killed is a good movie.

Wow. I didn't see this one coming. I thought Tarantino had a WWII movie or a Vega Brothers movie lined up? He has never even hinted that he was a Friday the 13th fan. This could be extremely cool.

For some reason this reminded me that the first post ever for the Movies & Television forum was about Jason X courtesy of me. Has it been that long?

Tarantino Says Friday the 13th Reports False
Source: Empire Online
March 14, 2005

It was reported widely that "Kill Bill" series helmer Quentin Tarantino would be directing The Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, a new "Friday the 13th" movie at New Line Cinema. Tarantino, however, has now set the record straight.

"What's happening with Friday the 13th? Nothing at all! It's a complete lie," he tells Empire Online. "I like Jason and everything, but I've no intention of directing a movie! New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I'm just saying it's not going to be Friday The 13th..."

With that cleared up, he says that he's still eyeing Inglorious Bastards, about a platoon of World War II soldiers trapped behind enemy lines.

"My next film is probably going to be Inglorious Bastards, yeah. I've written scenes. I've written a lot of it but now I have to sit down and start putting it together in a script that I can start shooting. And that's a different thing."
