UConn's quest for a three-peat ended on Sunday with a second-round loss to the top-seeded Florida Gators. And in the lead-up to the game, head coach Dan Hurley said he had to be better about creating distractions with viral moments ... only to fall into the same trap after the loss.

As the Huskies left the court, footage from the tunnel showed a heated Hurley yelling about the officiating. He said to the Baylor team that was about to face Duke, "I hope they don't (expletive) you like they (expletive) us."

But instead of walking back on those remarks, UConn went after the reporter who took and posted the video. According to Charlotte Sports Live, the station's reporter — Joey Ellis — was seated in press row when a furious UConn director of men's basketball communications Bobby Mullen demanded that Ellis delete the video.

At one point, Mullen threatened to "ruin" Ellis' life if the video wasn't taken down.

After that report aired on CSL, Mullen took to Twitter/X to downplay the entire exchange. He called it a moment of weakness after a loss.

Mullen deleted the tweet shortly after posting it. Both Hurley and Mullen know that reporters are regularly in the tunnels and arena hallways during the NCAA tournament. You can't shout something out in the open — with cameras around — and call it a private conversation.

Ellis rightfully declined to take down the video, and it has since been reposted across multiple college basketball accounts.
