Does for Bankers what Goodfellas did for mobsters. Supremely entertaining movie. Doesn't let up for 3 hours.

will be interested how it does outside of the coasts though. It's a romp, dark comedy at it's darkest, but man...it's just an onslaught of sex and drugs that just doesn't scream CHRISTMAS MOVIE!

The Wolf of Wall Street

Release Date: December 25, 2013
Studio: Paramount Pictures
Director: Martin Scorsese
Screenwriter: Terence Winter
Genre: Drama
MPAA Rating: R (for sequences of strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and language throughout, and for some violence)
Website: TheWolfofWallStreet.com | Facebook | Twitter

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jean Dujardin, Pj Byrne, Kenneth Choi

Plot Summary: Revered filmmaker Martin Scorsese directs the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough.

Three hour movie, plus trailers of other movies? I read a couple of reviews >>> 40 minutes of meaningful movie, the rest is fillers.

I'll spend those 3.5 hours watching some bowl game....

Some really funny scenes and lines, outrageous situations and some good performances but I dont care what anyone says, it was too freaking long and it drug (no pun intended) on and on and on...

I honestly believe that if this wasn't a Scorsese film and was some unknown director it would have been destroyed by critics and most viewers but because MS is a lot of peoples (poop on a plate) director they endure the boredom, call it brilliant and mock people with the good sense to say it was TOO FREAKING LONG.

Incase I am being too vague, I didn't care for it. But if listening to Leonardo Dicaprio scream at the top of his lungs for 3 hours is your thing, this is the film for you.

I loved it. I thought it was funny and it should be shocking (although I know too many brokers to be shocked by it).

The controversial "porn" aspect of it was overblown. Nothing you don't see on "Masters of Sex" or "Game of Thrones".

It is criminal that people who create nothing and add no value to the economy can get obscenely rich doing it. This movie shows that ugliness in all its glory.

Beyond the sun.
The book was a faster read than watching the movie. All you have to do is skip over the paragraphs where Jordan Belfort self-congratulates himself for being the Don of a "savage Jew" mafia and Pied Piper of easily impressionable young people (who he writes about with dripping condescension).

Still, the movie was worth it. If for no other reason than the scene at the Country Club. I can't remember the last time I laughed uncontrollably for 5 minutes.

The country club scene through the bologna. My God, that was funny!

I wanna punch her square in the ass and watch it jiggle.. Smack it up, flip it, rub it down... Ok I'm gonna stop.. But that girl is bad.. Movie was awesome too, she wasn't the only reason I liked it.. Jonah had me rolling..just a great movie..

It's funny because when I think back on this movie, I agree with you for the most part. There were ALOT of really funny scenes that I enjoyed, and I really didn't hate the movie, I just think Scorsese drags everything out too long for MY personal tastes.

I pretty much feel that way about all his movies. The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, Goodfellas, even the Hugo and The Departed, (Which are both movies I really liked alot) I liked them all, just feel like he achieves what he's out to achieve, he drives his point home and I'm ready for the movie to be over, and he takes another hour to continue driving the point home. lol

Not that you cared for me to elaborate on my opinion of the subject,,, just got me thinking about Scorsese overall and the fact that I almost always really like his films, I just always leave them thinking; 'man that coulda been just as good but 45mins shorter...' Maybe I just run out of popcorn too fast or something, :)

Damn good movie but a bit too long. Leonardo DiCaprio must have pissed some people off in the Academy. He was simply freaking robbed. Dude should have a golden statue for his performance in this movie. Wow...the amount of money and decadence on Wallstreet is simply unreal. By the way, working in banking for so many years and knowing some of these types...I can tell you this movie is not far off at some of the crazy money thrown around.

Ide say quibbling over him And Matthew McConaughey is like splitting hairs. Both were equally impressive. hard to say he was robbed when MM was easily equally deserving. JMO

Good point and MM was equally deserving. It's just this guy has had some tremendous performances especially way back with What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. He was awesome in The Aviator, Blood Diamond, Catch me if You Can and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Even though these films overall range in quality...what about his acting in The Departed, Revolutionary Road, Shutter Island and Django Unchained???

You only get so many shots and once in a life time type material. What does this guy have to do?

Fun movie, I loved it. It didn't seem too long to me. The original cut was actually four hours. I could've watched another hour of Belfort no problem.
