The New York Yankeesand their unusual-looking new bats — made an absolute statement on Saturday by launching nine (9!) home runs in a 20-9 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Yankee Stadium.

Nestor Cortes' return to the Bronx couldn't have gone much worse. His first start for the Milwaukee Brewers began by allowing three home runs on the first three pitches he threw. It's the first time in MLB's pitch-tracking era (since 1988) that the first three pitches of a game have all for home runs.

And that stats only get more absurd from there.

Here are nine stats to pair with Saturday's Yankee home runs — which, yes, set a new franchise record.

1. The Yankees home runs traveled a combined 3,595 feet

That's 0.68 miles — or longer than the width off Central Park. Aaron Judge's three home runs accounted for 1,289 feet by himself.

2. Nestor Cortes had never allowed more than 3 home runs in a game before Saturday

In the 135th game of his career (86th start), Cortes allowed four in his first six batters he faced to open the game.

3. Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt batted leadoff for the first time in his career on Saturday

Saturday marked the 1,929th game of Goldschmidt's career and the first time he ever slotted into the leadoff spot. Making his first-pitch home run even more wild is what happened in the Yankees' last game — catcher Austin Wells hit leadoff for the first time in his career, which also resulted in a home run.

4. Saturday marked the first time in MLB history a team hit leadoff home runs in consecutive games

5. The Yankees were 1 home run shy of the MLB single-game record

There's no shame in second place here. The Yankees are the first team to launch nine homers in a game since September 1999, when the Cincinnati Reds did it to the Philadelphia Phillies. Coincidentally, Yankees manager Aaron Boone hit the first dinger for the Reds that day. The Toronto Blue Jays hold the single-game record with 10 home runs against the Baltimore Orioles in 1987.

The last time the Yankees hit eight home runs in a game was July 31, 2007 against the Chicago White Sox.

6. Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge are the second trio of MVP winners to hit consecutive homers for the same team

It should come as absolutely no surprise the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers also accomplished this feat with Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman.

7. The Yankees' 7 home runs are the most through 3 innings in MLB history

Judge is now tied for the second-most three-home run games in Yankees history with Alex Rodriguez and Joe DiMaggio. Lou Gehrig holds the franchise record with four three-home run games.

9. The Yankees' 20 runs are the second-most in Yankee Stadium history

The Yankees plated 22 runs at home against the then-Oakland Athletics in 2011.
