HOUSTON — The 2025 Texas Children's Houston Open is the last chance for golfers to play their way into the Masters via the Official World Golf Ranking cutoff.

Those in the top 50 of the world rankings come Monday's update will secure their spot in the field at Augusta National. While defending champ Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and other top players are competing at Memorial Park Golf Club, there are numerous others trying to play their way into the year's first major.

J.J. Spaun is the highest-ranked player in the field not currently exempt, but he's not in danger of falling beneath the cutoff, sitting at No. 27 thanks to his runner-up finish at the Players. Then there's defending Houston Open champion Stephan Jaeger, who sits No. 44 in OWGR and is likely safe.

The first two players outside the number are No. 52 Michael Kim and No. 53 Ben Griffin, who on Thursday made his 12th straight PGA Tour start this season in an attempt to qualify for his first Masters. Then there's No. 61 Eric Cole and No. 66 Si Woo Kim.

OWGR expert Nosferatu shared a graphic on social media explaining each player's minimum finish needed to be able to get into the top 50. Griffin, for example, needs to finish at least 28th, if not better, to get into the top 50. The further from the cutoff, the better finish they need at Memorial Park.

Remember those targets are the minimum needed to have a chance, so they should aim for some better finishes than those... #OWGR

Although the rankings deadline concludes after the Houston Open, there is one more chance to get into the field at Augusta National. If a player wins the Valero Texas Open next week, they would be able to drive down Magnolia Lane.

Scheffler, McIlroy and Co. are the main headliners in Houston this week, but the race for a spot in the Masters is a competitive side quest to keep an eye on throughout the week.
