I've thought for a few years now, that consensus in a big way drives how I and many who post on ASFN approach the upcoming drafts.

It seems every year their are board favorites which is natural in that we tend to want to fill in the biggest gaps and team needs.

This year the talk tends to center on the D side of the ball, since the big FA acquisitions were made on offense with multi-year contracts. Cromartie was the only real name signing on the D, and only for a one yr. deal. Further a vet RT might be signed after the draft is completed to compete with Brady Sowell and possibly Bobbie Massey for the RT spot.

So I and others have been touting the D as the likely 1st Rd target because it makes the most sense. Right now the priorities for the D would seem to be:
SS, WOLB, DE and CB.

As of today on offense the priorities would seem to be:
TE, RT, and possibly QBOF if they feel they can upgrade Lindley with a low risk, lower round pick.

Like a Logan Thomas or a few others that have been mentioned like Keith Wenning out of Ball St. Another UFA possibility could be Dustin Vaughan out of West Texas A&M, simply because of his requisite height at 6'5" fits what Arians is looking for to groom at the position down the line. But the Cardinals usually prefer to trade for experience at that critical position.

So my questions are as follows:

1- Outside of the positions mentioned do you have some favorite prospects that you would just love to see in Cardinal RED? :newcards:

2- And of the perceived Need positions are there some favorites of yours that haven't really been discussed much on this forum?

3- Every year it seems, the Cardinals tend to make one of these choices (someone we didn't think was that great of a need selection) Last year it could have been Tyrann Mathieu maybe. To me he was a bit of a surprise pick in the 3rd. Who is that pick this year and in what Rd?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) I'd love to see Marqise Lee or Brandon Cooks in Cardinal Red.

Larry Fitz seems to be eched in stone as a lifelong Cardinal. But sometimes I wonder how the present regime really feels beyond the coming year regarding Larry's future with the Cardinals. Could something happen the next off-season?

If the Cardinals draft TE Austin Sefarian Jenkins in this next draft they would have him and Floyd as primary possession receivers going forward for this team. Having Fitzgerald around may be somewhat redundant and at a salary that becomes more than just a bit unmanageable. Just sayin. ;)

3) Bishop Sankey is also a player at a position of less need. Never the less he is imo, going to be an impact player at RB in the NFL. Would love to see him in Arizona and use Ellington more as a specialist back/receiver next season.

Late round selection of WR Jeff Janis, Saginaw Valley. Kid is 6'3", 219 and runs a 4.42 forty with solid catching ability :)

Carlos Hyde, RB Ohio State.

I was thinking of him yesterday along with Sankey. I just think Sankey plays with that sense of urgency, all out - this could be my last run mentality. I'm going to make it count. :p

Both also have tremendous God given ability as well. Both could be viable picks in the 2nd as insurance for Ellington and even potential starters. Continue to build the running game.

What about Roby. He's moving up draft boards. I don't think he's a #20 pick though.

Has the length and athleticism that Arians and Bowles are looking for on Defense. Is raw and will need some seasoning but could be a late round gem.

Bruce Ellington, WR, S. Car.

Quick WR that can stretch the field. Size will cause him to drop into the mid rounds.

Taylor Hart, DE, Ore

Huge frame that can set the edge. Could be the future replacement of Dockett. Anther late round pick with potential.

Aaron Colvin in round 4 or 5. He could redshirt this year and take over for

Cromartie in 2015. Kiper just released his 3 rounder.

Anthony Barr

AJ Mcarron

Robert Herron

He has us taking McCarron in the 2nd?? How much is McCarron paying him?? ;)

No way Barr makes it to 20. You got the likes of Pittsburgh, Dallas and Baltimore in front of us. Two of them draft pretty good. The other gets lucky now and then. :D

Why do you like Colvin?

Maybe in the 5th-6th Rds. we'll hit paydirt again. Nice group. What's Hart's measurables?

Why do you like Colvin?

He is physical, a hard worker and a good kid. He was going to be a second

round value before the injury so he would be good value in round 4 or 5.

The knock on him is long speed. He likes to get grabby down the field too.

Rex Ryan would choke John Izik if he passed on Barr. Rumor has it the Jets like

Kelvin Benjamin. PER NFL Network.

Why should he? He played horribly the 1st half and adequate the 2nd half of the year. He isn't a starter. He is a borderline backup IMO. What respect has he earned exactly?
