ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Yankees hope that rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres picks up where he left off when he landed on the DL on July 5 with a right hip problem that kept him out of the All-Star Game. In 63 games Torres is hitting .294 with 15 homers, 42 RBIs, a .350 on-base percentage and a .905 OPS. He was the DH for Single-A Tampa on Tuesday night when he went 0-for-2 with a walk and is expected back in the Yankees’ lineup for Wednesday’s matinee game against the Rays at Tropicana Field. “Hopefully he will be in the lineup [Wednesday],’’ Boone said of Torres, who was 3-for-11 in three minor league games. “He has had good at-bats the last couple of days.
