If they would have just promoted Paul Silas to begin with, we wouldn't have all these coaching changes now!! :) :D :D

That's true in theory, but who's to say he wouldn't have been fired himself? I just want the Phoenix Suns to get a head coach who believes in a few basic fundamentals of basketball.

1. Traditional lineups unless it's absolutely necessary to go small.

2. Some normal defense. I'm tired of watching the Phoenix Suns double-team every single player that posts up.

3. Ride the hot hand. When a player, players, or an entire unit is on a tear go with them. Don't make substitutions based solely on playing time.

4. Some sort of offense that doesn't include struggling shooters standing out beyond the three-point line waiting for shots they either won't take or have been missing.

Paul Silas was the only "big man" the Suns ever had as Asst. Coach -- until Iavaroni. But as Head Coach with no previous experience, he would have been bound by the same Small Ball shackles as all of our other Head Coaches.

If Cotton were 10 years younger, he'd be the only breath of fresh air who Jerry would permit. Look how Fitzsimmons changed the image of the Suns for four years by bringing in the Chuckster.
