Much has been said about the importance of continuity on the offensive-line in regard to the run game. There may not be a truer statement in all of football.
Atlanta and Denver were one and two, respectively, in rushing, blowing up the rest of the league with their zone-scheme.
A little research revealed a stunning fact; I still have a hard time believing what I saw:
Of the 16-games Atlanta played in 2005, they had the same starting five on the offensive-line 14 of those weeks. Weiner missed the 16th game and Lehr missed the eleventh game.
But that isn't what dropped my jaw in disbelief:
Of the 16-games Denver played in 2005, they had the same starting five on the offensive-line for every game they played. Simply amazing...
Compare those morsels to the Cardinals starting five last year.
There are three-factors that will make the "Arizona Block and Load Co." better than they were last year:
1) Steve Loney...I saw him coach at minicamp and that guy is top-shelf.
2) Edgerrin James...enough said.
3) Health: Running a zone-scheme will help.
Block and Load, Baby...Block and Load...
