I am a Cardinal fan first and foremost .. if some of our players go elsewhere to play I don't really follow them .. once they leave they are no longer Cardinals ..

But if they say they did not give a 100% effort while they were here then they can go jump in a lake ..

I have no respect for anyone who plays the game and takes the money and dogs it on purpose .. no matter what ... what a priveledge it is to be able to play football for a living ..

Big got booed by not giving a full effort .. Thomas Jones admitted the same as well as Simeon "armpit" Rice ... and I have no regrets about letting them go ...

I don't care what these players do with their new teams .. they are no longer welcome here after disrespecting us ...

If Rice was on the team I would never go to a game or even watch a game on TV.

Could we field a competitive team of guys that left the Cards to play somewhere else either amid controversy or spoke poorly of the cards once gone?

Help me out, this is all I could come up with off the top of my head. I know there's more, but I'm sort of surprised I couldn't do the exercise with ease...

QB: Jake Plummer, Joe Namath?
RB: Otis Anderson, Thomas Jones
WR:
TE: Novechek
OT: Big?, Lomas Brown, Bridges,
OG:
C: Kendall

DE: Rice,
DT: Bell, Darwin Walker
OLB:
MLB:
CB: A. Williams,
S: Chavous,

Ditto. But it is because I am a petty, spiteful, gradge holding, SOB.

I hate players that leave the Cardinals and talk trash. It drives me crazy. BUT I love it when they fail, especially when the "media" says the only reason the player sucked is because he was playing for the Cardinals.

God bless him. Went to play LB for the Chargers after playing well for a long time with the Cardinals and upon retirement chose to retire a Cardinal, nuff said. Broke my heart to see Eric Metcalf and Larry Centers finish there careers elsewhere.

Ouch....

Yes, Terry Metcalf and not his son. I went to UT so I have this problem with thinking Eric and not Terry. I do appreciate Eric's kickoff return that helped get us into the playoffs in '98. thanks for the correction. Terry had a little of Barry Sanders in him and it was always fun to see what the guy could do on any given play. Think he finished with the Redskins like Jim Hart.

Free Agency makes playing an entire career with one team a rare thing in today's NFL.

Significant players who played at least one season in Arizona and retired as Cardinals in the last 20 years:

Earl Ferrell FB - leading rusher in '88 and '89, scored 22tds in his last 3 years
Stump Mitchell RB-leading rusher '85-'87 avg almost 5ypc for career
Luis Sharpe OT - who played for the team for 13 years

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Jan 5, 2000--Luis Sharpe, a former offensive lineman with the Arizona Cardinals is arrested for allegedly possessing drug paraphernalia in Phoenix Arizona. His arrest has football fans all over the country asking two questions. First, who is Luis Sharpe? And second, who are the Arizona Cardinals?

Ouch!

I hate what happened to Sharpe. Very sad story. Hope he's doing ok today.
