Right now though I am just sad. 2 minutes away from a superbowl championship.

Yep. I'm walking around in a stupified daze. Went on a long mornin jog, to hopefully clear my head..... nothing.

A buddy of mine who is a seahawk fan said for him, it lasted about a week.

Go Cards!!!

Still proud of the team.Still ticked off and still sick to death of the "Steeler lovefest".
Steelers are quickly moving to the Cowboys and Patriots level of teams i really dislike(hate is really too strong a choice of words.............. despise might be better).

I still haven't gotten over it. I remember the feeling when Fitz scored and we had the lead. It was almost the best feeling ever. I remember thinking "holy crap, just hold the Eff on!" I really thought they would hold them too. :(

I don't care if pittsburgh won, the Cards deserved this more.

Western Maryland = NOT the place to be today.

I am in a tremendous amount of pain today. Didn't sleep well at all and keep going over scenerios that would have won the game for us.

Well, I have an extemely busy day at work today and will be here late. That may help.

When Fitz broke away for the TD, I broke away from my chair and dashed through the house (much to the humor of 10 guests), screaming for joy the whole way through! The only sports moment that compared to the sheer happiness I felt was when Gonzo hit the single to win the 2001 World Series.

So close. So agonizingly close.

i WISH i could say something different. Didn't sleep a wink.... I feel really empty, really drained. At some point I am sure I will get over this, but man what a mind ****.

I was that way, too. I let a faint glimmer of hope rise in me after we took the lead and Pittsburgh got that holding penalty to make it first and 20, and remembered the Ralph Brown pick that clinched a win for us a couple years ago vs the Steelers at UoP, and thinking that would be a perfect time for another.
Going to be a tough week.

I didn't sleep last night, save for about an hour when I had a dream I was wandering around the stadium looking for something.

After the Fitz TD I just couldn't believe we were ahead and just a few minutes away from the win. During the two minute warning I actually allowed myself really consider that we were about to win it all. Then after their TD I was just speechless.

'Numb' was how I described my feelings last night, and numb is how I feel now. I can't bring myself to read anything about the game, and I'm not up to looking at other football forums at the moment, it hurts.

I'm sure I'll look back at all this with a big grin on my face, but at the moment I'm just too sad.

What helps me is listening to the "talking heads" give the Cards so much love. Reading "Best Superbowl ever" and "Just the beginning for these Cards" and stuff like that. Knowing we were "that close" to winning it all. Stunning sooooo many people that they were in it to the end, let alone almost winning. Bring on the off season and another shot at glory next year (but this still sucks).......

My thing before the game was I just want to play well and shut up the media. If we lose but play well I'll be ok with it.

But the crushing way we lost is going to take awhile to overcome. But I'm very proud of the team. I wish we didn't make so many dumb plays with penalties and I missed tackles but we were there at the end and that's amazing for this franchise.

Russ, that was exactly the way I felt about it before the game. Then, when it was 20-7, I was like "Come on, let's not wind up losing 27 or 34 to 7." I didn't even dare hope we would come all the way back.

Yeah, I just wanted to see us play well too, and a win would've been the sweetest icing ever. But, I just never envisioned having the lead with less than a minute to go and THEN losing. That sucks.

After 40 years watching this team lose, lose, lose, I was absolutely dazzled that the Cards were actually IN the Super Bowl. I was apprehensive about the game, thinking there was a good possibility that the Steelers might just blow them out. Through the first 2 1/2 quarters of the game it looked like it may be a distinct reality.

Yet, these Cards are NOT "the same old Cardinals" one iota! They scraped, scrapped and hung in there and hung in there. When Fitz blew by the defense and they went ahead my first words, after all of the hollering, high fiving and rejoicing was over were "There's too much time left!". And, there was.

BUT, in spite of the pain, in spite of the let down, in spite of the agony, I am disappointed but still love this year's team. If they can keep it mostly intact and draft wisely, they will be at least contenders for a while.

Whiz, Kurt, Fitz, Q, Edge, Dockett, Dansby, Wilson, et al.....THANK YOU all for a GREAT, GREAT ride!

Returning back to the valley from Tampa, I am just now seeing the highlights/replays in the Kansas city airport. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm bummed as hell the Cards lost.

But like many others on this board, I think this is just the beginning. We have a great coach in place and it looks like the front office finally has it right. Even if we lose Haley, I have faith Whis will find another great oc. I hope Clancy stays. If we re-sign the right players and make the right moves, I think this team comes back hungrier than ever.

The thing that has struck me throughout the post season is they finally seem to be menatlly tough. It showed when the bounced back after the Panthers opening drive. It showed when they bounced back after Philly took the lead. It showed last night after Harrison's int return for td. The old Cards may have folded..these guys came back.

I wish we didn't have to wait almost three months for the draft and six months for training camp.

Feeling better since work starting. Reminder it is 11:30am over here.

Happy that everyone that I have met up with said, " WOW, that was an AWESOME game."

It will get better.

Vegas, baby, yeah!
I should feel worse than I do.

I should feel like I got kicked in the gut.

But I didn't - and neither did my bro.

I guess it all comes down to this - big picture time folks - we're in our second year under Whiz. We just had our first winning season in 10 years. Our stadium is packed, it's loud, and it's homefield advantage. We went to the Super Bowl. We are breaking the old habits.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Neither are dynasties. We have a ways to go - but we're so on the right path.

Hope for the future.
