However, some things need to be fixed fast. For starters, a new Defensive Coordinator. We have the tools to be a decent defense but we don't have the right scheme. Davis was horrible in SF. How Whiz thought he'd be good here is beyond me. If I were Whiz, I'd be on the horn with Wade Phillips right now. The guy is a lousy head coach but he's always been a very good coordinator.

However, the offense is in need of an overhaul. First, we need an OC. Then a new offensive line coach because Grimm isn't getting it done. And third, we need a QB to hang our hat on until one develops. We have some offensive weapons: THT, Beanie, Fitz, Breason, Doucet(who is made of paper mache), LSH. And some on the OL aren't that bad. Brown might need to be moved to guard(worked for Davis) and Deuce is an OK guard. We just need tackles. Not out of the realm of possibility.

I pretty much agree, I think our assistants are very weak, although we have some talent holes that got bigger this year no doubt about it, I still don't think if we had a rock solid coaching crew that what we're seeing would be as bad as it has been.

So... All we need to be competitive next season is...

1) A defensive coordinator. Preferably high-profile.
2) An offensive coordinator. Preferably high-profile.
3) A starting-caliber quarterback. The kind that teams regularly expose to free agency.
4) A stud pass rush specialist. The kind that frequently comes at little cost.
5) Two starting-caliber offensive tackles.

I believe that a team in this situation is usually referred to as an "expansion team."

You know what is our biggest flaw?? The lack of a good TE or the use of 1. Every good offensive team in the league uses one. Except who? Us and that is why we stink on Offense. The reason being he can be used to help block but he can also be used to slip out in the flat and catch balls and take away a safety from covering Fitz or Breaston.

And the offenses that do use a TE use them very well. There are 10+ top notch TE's in the league...and 10 more quality ones. We used the TE 1 time in the last 3 years well and it was the 3rd and 15 against the Falcons in the playoffs. Spach was wide open!! Whiz will never use 2 backs either which is dumb in my opinion. Use 2 backs to catch the edge rushers and if no rush...1 of them can slip out and catch a short pass for 6-15 yards. Works for tons of teams...But we never do it.

There is a long list of ignorance WHiz does..but it doesn't matter....He coaches we don't....Team loses we suffer. :(

Not necessarily. We don't need a stud pass rush specialist. We need a better defensive scheme though. And Phillips is available, no? As for OC, doesn't have to be high profile. We just need one that Whiz will let do his job. Whiz is clueless and that's being kind. As for a QB, don't know where you gleaned that but I said a QB to hang our hat on util one develops, which was what Warner was supposed to be but he ended up drinking from the fountain of youth. What I said we needed isn't all that impossible save for 2 high quality tackles. Especially considering I'd settle for mediocre tackles because even mediocre is 3 steps above what we have now.

We certainly do. Every good 3-4 team has a pass rush specialist. Every good DEFENSIVE team has a guy whom defensive coordinators are afraid of on third down and long.

Look at every good team in the NFL, and they have a 1) Top 15 quarterback and 2) stud pass rusher.

Who would you like to see brough in as OC? Apparently the two-yeaded monster of Chris Miller and Russ Grim aren't working. What candidates would you like?

For starters, Whiz is his own OC. 2nd, right now my 2 dogs could do pretty much what Whiz is doing right now. As for who I'd like to see as OC? Not really sure. Don't know who's out there.

Matt Leinart would be a huge improvement! OOPs how about starting Beanie Wells! Oops how about extending Deuce, Lyle, Breaston and Patrick Oops, Oops , Oops, Oops.

Lets start over, We have a Run Game Coordinator and a Pass Game Coordinator. Oops, Oops, been to 2 county fairs, an ankle hangin and a goat nutting and aint seen nothing like that!

I'm sorry but Whiz and his new personell powers in this contract are failing. We need Cower or Marty S as a special advisor right now. Somebody Whiz might listen too???

Whz is the decider and I think He can pull out this, but not without experienced help.

following HC/GM evaluations available He screwed the pooch worse than Buddy Ryan! He needs to accept reponsibility just like a bad engineering job.

I like Whiz but he chose this,

Start with pads and fundementals,

run the ball every snap in practice instead of 3 out of 10 times, until you master the run game. before you even worry about a forward pass.

wrap up and tackle before you worry about and INT or stripping the ball on defense.
Big Ben was shut down with that single point of emphasis last week.

We can not get a fair evaluation of talent n this mess. Lok at Matty.

UFA WR's, poor run game, poor oline and hit 19-24 with a 110+ QB rating in the preseason.

Matt Leinart was a GOD and the best player on this team after witnessing what the QB's we kept did.

I don't think Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees would have done as well as Matty did with this crappy offensive team this preseason.

talking about putting a QB in the worse case scenerio to succeed. With coaches like Whisenhunt who needs opponents.

:doi: We're alot closer to a 4-5 win team than a playoff team & many don't want to believe this, despite some talent scattered throughout the roster!!!

The 3 most important positions on an NFL team:
1) QB-we suck
2) Offensive Tackles-we suck
3) Edge rushers-below average & old

We are not even close in the 3 most important pieces to an NFL playoff team, not even close!!!

As fans, don't mis-evaluate the talent (like the coaches & GM have) because our record can't get much better without dramatically improving the 3 positions above!!! Again, we're just not good enough & to think it will turn around next season is very shaky at best.

I see you found a place to fill in some spare time. I read your thread about getting banned and I see you don't get it. IMO "ONLY" it wasn't your negative comments towards the team it's your bashing of other members. The same as you did in your thread about getting banned. Besides you took the time to write an infamous I'm leaving and won't be back thread to only apologize comeback and then freak out again. I think you take this way too seriously and could use a vacation. almost every post you have was like this one.

"Um, that is a paragraph, genius. Take an English Composition course and maybe you'll figure it out."

Oh, when the word fork was banned because people kept using in place of the real F. word. After people kept continually saying things like Fork you. And that's forked up. They simply just banned it.

banned: just because
expiration: Never
my true story, just like Matt Leinart.

Yes 33+ yo starting OLB's, with Davis and Obrien in waiting, after 4 years of emphasis on the position. Graves has to share that too, Whiz just got his super HC Powers.

But cutting Matt and Rolle, handling of Deuce, Lyle, Breaston, R Wells, in a cut throat CBA year didn't show loyalty or inspire their best effort.

THT over Edge, B Wells ? I was loud the whole time and still am! Mcfadden, R Brown, Dansby franchised twice, Q?

Signed loud mouth unsportsmanlike Conduct going to happen DD to an elite contract, TO LEAD THIS DEFENSE! Seems like somebody named THESMEL was flamed for saying Woe their hombre, that may be stupid! I gotta say his attitude has been better since signed, but his play is consistantly streaky like his whole career.

AW Wow just Wow, It's speed, quickness and range that disappeared this season, He needs to lose some bulk and change his body for the over 30 years of his career. He is not a fluid runner in the 2ndary.

What the hell is Mike Adams still doing playing Cornerback,He's beat 9 out of 10 times as a CB? He was our 4th or 5th last year you know 45 points in 2 playoff games?????? So We rush him 5 times a game and ST play. So what.

You want an excersize in futility, check our 09 year end roster to this one. There was some unavoidables but mostly this was chose by one man, and He was and is wrong.

nope

Don't know it just said, Just because? expiration- Never.

came here and complained and was banned for
You asked for it? 2 weeks?

But I was down on DD and THT starting, up on Matt and Deuce and Beanie starting.

I thought and still think Fitz, Beanie and Matty was a hell of a core for the next 5 years to a decade.

DD has done just what I said, dissapeared again. And lead this D down the toilet. He's not a bad man, His behavior is better, play is the same look at his career numbers.

Of yea I critsized the God like Whiz at that point, for signing Faneca and porter to huge contracts,

And AW, Fitz and DD are the only drafted Cards players extended long term since whiz has been here(4 years) Dennis Green deserves much more credit than He gets.

Whiz treats players like dung, and they don't want to be here.

truth is I was dog piled and abused by popular members on the board for those comments. I rarely attacked them but they would take over threads thesmel bashing for pages on end.

I seen this freight train coming, and they didn't like it.

I wrote for profootballcentral.com, Cards Writer-strong opinion- as asked. was much closer in predictions of the 08 SB run and 09 season than any media. It's still on record if you search the PFC archives with my name.

I'm the most positive Cards fan in the universe, until I seen it coming, I still can't beleive Whiz cut Matt? and fans supported it after the fact! ( well 85% of main site polled fans wanted Matt to start when He was cut) do you remember the "discomfortable fans" Whiz comment?

did you see that love fest for Max Hall- Max a million reasons to cut you wrist is the chant we needed. Min i mus, min i mus.

I'm tore up from the floor up, read some PFC and you'll see why. This didn't have to happen,

Whiz chose this, and if this is where his "feelings lead us" you know "to I can't get a feel for this team" I let him know how i felt about it. through fan forum. I haven't changed my mind one IOTA.

I remember when I was honored as one the 20000 fans at SDS through hell and well more hell, not punted to the side for strong opinion,

Were heading back down to see who the banwagoneers really are, I think weve grown to 25-30 thousand strong?

when the seats go empty and TV blacks out, Don't hope I won't be there. I'll be going against te grain, and fighting off the majority of opponents fans in OUR HOUSE!

Are you saying you got banned for that post THESMEL?

This team is a good year or two away from being competitive. After the offseason I think they will be at least 3 seasons away from being competitive. Get comfortable, the good ol days are back. All is right with the universe once more, the Cards suck again.

I don't think I've ever seen a team in such shambles less that 2 years after playing in a SB. It's pretty mazing really. You would think a team that just came that close to winning it would go for it and add players to get them ove the hump. Not the Cards, only 3 of their top 8- 10 players from that team remain and AW now stinks, DD is hurt, and Fitz is renedered usless because no one can get him the ball. If that's not complete mis-management from the FO, then I don't know what is. It's like their thinking is, okay we got to the SB , we're good for the next 50 years instead of being aggressive and wanting to win it all.

I still say the rehiring of the human snail will ultimately put us back to the good old days!!! I just hope when they fire Wiz 2 years from now, Michael fires Graves also.

Talking about tackles, did anyone pick up on Billicks comment about Levi and how he opens his shoulders and you should never do that as a tackle?

That made me wonder if the talent on our OL is better than it shows due to some terrible coaching or lack of coaching by Grimm.

This seems like a very fundamental mistake and if Levi is still doing it then it means either Levi is dumb as a doornail or Grimm is still trying to find where Bruce Springstein is playing.
