Director Kenneth Branagh won't be returning.

Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor.

Don Payne has been signed to write the sequel (he was a writer on the first film as well).

Release date: July 26, 2013

It's too bad Branagh won't return.

I think so many of these individual films will hinge on how good or bad the Avengers movie is.

This movie rocked so very, very much. I'm having trouble deciding if I liked it better than the 1st one. The writing, acting, visuals, everything, were just so spot on. And Kat Dennings is one hell of an awesome/sexy supporting actress. Natalie Portman's okay looking too :D

So good, tons of laughs, tons of great action, some good twists and turns and thinking that had to be done.

And the visuals were so good that at one point I was just happy and thinking, this is so amazing what we can do (we as in humans) the things we can imagine and then put them on a screen and watch them in a theater. It was awesome, like looking at a skyscraper or a bridge and thinking; 'wow people built that, that's pretty cool...' I will definitely go see it again.

That was one rock em sock em movie. Lotsa fun, action, humor and some sad moments. Really, really liked it. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

With Loki popping up as Odin at the end (fooled me.... I knew we'd see Loki somewhere again but not there....) do we assume that Loki killed or imprisoned Odin?

If they stick close to the comics then Odin is imprisoned

Benecio Del Toro joins the Marvel universe. The actors lining up to be a part of this franchise is impressive to say the least.

Just a quick note:

The post-credits scene can easily be considered a throw-away, but I found it interesting that it shows Thor making his choice--that he will now make Earth his home and not just be a visitor. He appears to have made a choice when he turned down the kingship of Asgard. A lot of things I've read appear to just consider that scene as nothing special and nothing to do with anything, where I think it is incredibly important to keeping Thor on Earth long-term.

people continually dying and coming back to life with no explanation is starting become a huge weakspot in the Marvel universe. the continually happening robs the "big moment" of any and all emotion, seeing as you know if it's a major character, that person isn't really dead.

and was there ever ANY explanation for how Thor can keep traveling to different worlds? It's like the end of the first Thor literally didn't matter in any way shape or form. Loki died (and someone didn't die) and Thor destroyed the bridge, which meant he had to sacrifice getting back to Jane to save Asgard. None of that matters in retrospect...nor was ever even explained how any of the above was undone.

that's pretty lame.

as for this movie? 3/5. i was bored to tears for the first 45 minutes. The Villain was awful and the "twists" arrived with a bullhorn. the last 45 minutes were good. that was about it.

Fun movie. I agree, both Dennings and Portman add just the right amount of comedy/silliness.
