I really don't want to hear about arm strength, which seems to be the only knock on Leinart, unless you listen to the silly "hollywood" factor.

Truth is, in Leinart we get a smart qb. We get a guy who has shown he knows how to read a defense and actually throw to the right (open) guy. He will be playing indoors for the most part.
Many have said he shouldn't have been the top rated qb because of the weapons and talent he was surrounded with. Fact is he was able to exploit opposing defenses and win.
He will now be surrounded by Fitz, Q, and James. Not bad , huh? Another greta thing is he is not going to be threown into the fire and expect to lead this team from day 1. We all suspect that at some point of the season Warner will miss some playing time. With that in mind we selected a QB as ready as any qb coming out of college. If he needs to step in during the season he will be stepping into a situation much like Rothlisberger.
And we all know how that turned out.

Leinart is a heady QB who can check off receivers, read the D, and deliver the pass under pressure. He is by far the most ready to play. WHEN Warner goes down, he should be ready to step in. Arm strength is nothing more than a combine judgement and is BS in my opinion.

Keep in mind that USC was the team to beat for 3 years. Every team they played was bringing the house at Leinart. He obviously stood up to the pressure (37-2 career).

Vince Young will take 2 years to be field ready. Cutler has a cannon, but is nowhere near ready for primetime.

Leinart is the best fit for our offense and the weapons we have. The only knock I can see is that he is lefty. That is going to cause additional confusion for our O line. But, with the new coaching and additional beef, we should be ready for any contingency.

My only concern is that people will expect him to be Steve Young by Game 1. That ain't gonna happen folks. Give him some time to develop and he should be great by next season.

Great pick IMO.

I totally agree. Leinart is the best QB for our situation coming out this year. As you mentioned, the only knock you hear is arm strength and with the type of receiving corp we have, that is far less important than accuracy and making the right read/decision. Boldin, Fitz and Pope aren't going to beat defenses on fly routes down the field very often. They're going to get seperation in that 10 - 20 yd range and make a play. Our qb just needs to make the right decision and an accurate throw.
