Some athletes go an entire playing career without hitting a grand slam.

Veterans Memorial freshman catcher Isabella Chapa connected on three during Friday's District 29-5A game against Ray at the Cabaniss Softball Field.

Chapa swung into the history books after becoming what is believed to be the first high school softball player in Texas to hit three grand slams in one game.

Chapa finished 3-for-3, scored three runs and drove in a game-best 12 runs as the Eagles won 24-0 to remain in first place in the district standings.

Veterans Memorial finished with 21 hits with Chapa and teammate Parker Malone combining for five home runs.

The Eagles have won 17 consecutive games with seven district contests left in the regular season.
