No. 2 seed Tennessee (29-7) defeated No. 7 seed UCLA (23-11), 67-58, Saturday in the NCAA Tournament second round at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.

Tennessee advances to the Sweet 16 for a third consecutive season under head coach Rick Barnes.

The Vols will play either No. 3 seed Kentucky or No. 6 seed Illinois in the Sweet 16. The Kentucky-Illinois second-round game will tip off at 5:15 p.m. EDT on Sunday (CBS).

Zakai Zeigler ties SEC single-season assist record​


Senior guard Zakai Zeigler recorded six assists for the Vols against UCLA. He has totaled 260 assists during the 2024-25 basketball season. Zeigler tied Ole Miss' Sean Tuohy (1979-80) for the most assists during a single season in SEC history.

Chaz Lanier sets Tennessee’s single-season program record for made three-point shots​


Fifth-year guard Chaz Lanier set a new Tennessee program record for made three-point shots in a single season. He has converted 120 three-point attempts during the 2024-25 campaign, passing Chris Lofton’s 118 made three-point attempts in the 2007-08 season.

Lanier converted 4-of-5 three-point attempts against the Bruins.

Jahmai Mashack in NCAA Tournament games at Tennessee​


Senior guard Jahmai Mashack has appeared in eight NCAA Tournament wins for the Vols, breaking a tie with Wayne Chism (2006-10) for the most by a single player in Tennessee program history. Mashack is also the second Vol to play in 11 NCAA Tournament games, alongside Chism.
