The Anaheim Ducks beat the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime, taking the final game of their season series.

It was a must-win game for Calgary, but it seems Anaheim just wanted it more as they came back two goals down to get the win.

Here are my three takeaways from the game:

1) Power play

It’s an issue I feel we’ve gone back and forth, but the consistency is just not there.

Furthermore, I thought 0-for-4 against Vegas was the worst it can possibly get, but 0-for-6 against an Anaheim team that is the fourth-worst in the penalty kill?

It’s definitely not going to cut it for a team that wants to be in the playoff conversation.

2) Ducks showed passion in the final period

Anaheim wasn’t feeling it in the first two periods.

How do we know?

The Ducks had eight combined blocked shots in period one and two.

And when the shots came raining in period three for Anaheim, they had the same number of blocked shots in that final period alone, showing their new-found aggressive mentality in the offensive zone.

And of course, scoring two goals in a span of eight seconds also speaks well about the offensive confidence...

3) It was just not Dustin Wolf’s day

It’s a shocker we get to criticize Wolf for once, but it’s true: Wolf had a bad game. The California kid had an Expected Goal Against value of 1.88 and he wounded up conceding four. That looks bad when he has a GAA of 2.62. His sub 90 save percentage is not a good look either.

The Calgary Flames will look to rebound when they come back home to face the Minnesota Wild.

As Vancouver is eliminated from playoff contention, it’s down to Calgary, Minnesota and St. Louis for the final two wild-card spots, so this game will be interesting.

Puck drop is at 10:00 MDT/8:00 EDT on Friday.
