Tiger Woods congratulated Rory McIlroy on X soon after he won the Masters in a playoff on Sunday - and joined him in the Career Grand Slam Club.

Tiger, who missed the event at Augusta while recovering from his torn Achilles surgery, posted on X: "Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you're a part of history. Proud of You!"

Woods and McIlroy were the co-founders of TGL and both live near the Martin County-Palm Beach County line, Woods on Jupiter Island, McIlroy in Jupiter.

Woods earned his spot in that exclusive club - now numbering six - when he also won the 2001 Masters after winning the 2000 U.S. Open, 2000 Open and 2000 PGA. Those four major wins in a row, over two seasons, earned Woods what was then dubbed the "Tiger Slam."

McIlroy acknowledged Woods during his victory speech.

"This is by far the greatest golf tournament in the world," McIlroy said. "Watching Tiger Woods do this when I was a kid was my inspiration … My dreams have been made today.”
