Tigers' Young uncertain for ALCS opener (AP)

Tigers slugger Delmon Young opened his trip to the AL championship series with a doctor's examination. Detroit manager Jim Leyland said Friday that the evaluation of Young's strained oblique muscle will determine whether the outfielder can start Game 1 against the Texas Rangers on Saturday night.
