Just saw it on NFL.com. If it weren't so late in the offseason, I'd think we'd be all over him. Prototypical size. What say you guys?

Surprised by the move. Not starter material but I believe he could develop into a solid back-up

I liked him coming out of LSU. He has the size and arm strength BA likes. I like him better than Barkley.

didn't want him coming out of college and still don't.

the only reason he had his one good season at LSU was because he had an nfl coach that year,...while going against college players.

Us not signing Mettenberger this offseason is a nice prelude to not signing Mike Glennon down the road.

I'd cut both Barkley and Stanton immediately.

I heard on Sirius today he has Worst passer rating in NFL history with minimum of 10 starts.

Mettenberger or Stanton??

Oh, just checked, and

Mettenberger is 0-10 as a starter on a horrible team with a 75.4 career rating, at the beginning of his career.

Stanton is 7-5 as a starter on a mixture of below average to very good teams, with a career 69.1 rating, approaching the end of his career! His passer rating is 73.4 if you only include his 8 starts (5-3) with Arizona.

I guess the ability to win a bit more than he lost made him seem a lot more adequate than he really is. Ugh.

How's San Diego set for backups?

Not very good. Kellen Clemons has been our backup past couple years. I'm sure Cards fans are familiar with him...

Then again, Rivers is amazingly durable despite the hits and sacks he takes so a backup QB isn't much of a priority for the Bolts.

I started to think about Mettenburger. He has the size and been around the first block.

Then I started thinking about Frosted Mini Wheats and remembered when they had the "oops frosted on both sides" cereal and wondered why I haven't seen it in a while. Did they quit making it?

Then again I thot about Mettenburger and how big of a pain in the butt it is to type his name with one hand while eating Frosted Mini Wheats with the frosted on one side.
