Doesn't that violate your agreement with TIVO? I thought that it said something that you would not tamper with or something like that?

But, if you were to get this up and working I would love for you to have my personal email address...:D

Short answer: Yes

If you have a Stand Alone Tivo (hooked up to Cox cable or something) I think the Tivo to Go feature is what you're looking for. Info on the Tivo website

If you have a DirecTV/Tivo unit, you need to "enable" these features with a little hacking. Its not that difficult to do actually. Then you can use some 3rd party tools to do what you want.

What kind of tivo do you have??

You will have to hack it to do what you want. It can be done though.

Here are a few places to start if your interested:

Tivo Community -- especially the Underground Forum

Deal Database Forums -- 'THE' place for all things tivo hacking, tough on n00bs though. Be sure to read and search a lot before asking for help

I used this guide to start hacking mine. It will work for all series2 DirecTV tivos (not the new Hughes R10's Tivo is selling now) that have software 6.2 on it.

It can be overwhelming, I read through a lot of posts before getting the guts to do it. But, it really wasn't all that bad.

Thanks for the info.

So why do they have the usb port if you can't download without hacking?
