I'm not even a Suns fan, and I know to watch the FSN broadcast instead of the TNT broadcast.

Nice win by you guys, best of luck for closing it out in Memphis.

yea george didnt have his best night tonight. all he could talk about was defense. what happens when we face a team better then us. i just wanted to ask him if he knew of another team this season that had won more then 62 games? if not keep it down over there because he has never won a championship himself.

Who are you talking about? John Thompson is considered one of the greatest college coaches in history. He has won several championships.

Seems like the national guys (TNT, etc.) never know jack.
Talking about the Suns facing "better teams", and no defense is soooooo
East Coast bias. HELLO...blocked shots all night long by the Suns . Some at very crucial points in the game. Is that not DEFENSE John Thompson?

Oddly enough, I don't get FSN-AZ out here in California. But if I did, I'd be sure to follow your advice.

No kidding. Out of all the color commentators on every broadcast team, I think Thompson's opinion and insight is a step above everyone else.

Not tonight it wasn't. He didn't say anything except that we don't play any defense.

We were just getting hammered by barkley on the post game, but to be honest I can't disagree with him on much.

The only place I would disagree, is when he states that miami and detroit made statement blowout wins, something the suns could not do. New Jersey and Philadelphia are not near Memphis in terms of ability, in fact I would bet Memphis could easily get a split against Detroit (maybe not Miami).

our D was pretty poor most of the game though Chap. Memphis ain't a very good offensive team and until those least five minutes, it seemed like they were scoring at will on us - or at least getting really good looks. We clamped down when we had to - which has become a staple of our team - but it's not something everyone sees - they'll get used to it as we do it throughout the West and into the Finals.

I thought he was annoying as hell repeating himself, but I didn't necessarily think he was all that off - I think we're a very good team(as Thompson said) but I don't know if we're a great team yet - but I'm gonna enjoy finding out - as will the rest of the NBA viewing audience.

Honestly - we should be on national TV every chance ABC gets.

True, but that certainly doesn't make him a good color guy. Just ask Magic Johnson - he's the worst commentator ever IMHO...

The problem I have with John Thomson's repetitive complaints about the defense is that you never hear these idiots making similar statements about a team's offense when they only score 85-95 points in a game. The only thing that really matters is the final score. This Memphis team played better defense against the Suns in the regular season and probably any other team in the NBA. They haven't been able to keep Phoenix under 100 points in the first couple games.

It was my mistake for not watching FSN, but Thompson was annoying the hell out of me. I could care less how good of a college coach he was (and yes, I do know he was a great one). When the Suns win it all, he's going to be eating his words. "They are a good team but not a great team." Guess it depends on your definition of great, but a 62 game winner is usually pretty damn great. Sorry, just blowing off some steam.

at least it isn't the pbp guy killing everything

dick stockton is a trainwreck ... he made the sonics game almost unbearable ... slaughtered everyones names ... giving play credit to people not in the game ... horrible

especially when i'm used to the smooth sounds of the best pbp guy in the game (kevin calabro)

Anybody who watches the Suns can see their Defense sucks. I think we've gotten used to it. Sometimes it's so bad I have to turn my head. Imagine if the Suns just had a mediocre defensive team. And that being said, we missed a lot of shots that we usually make and Nash's shot was off. You just have to get used the Suns style.

Yeah, those statements are getting tired. How come they don't say DET has bad offense? Instead they say "You never know which one of them is going to score" WTF?!! The problem is that, as commentators, they are supposed to have meaningful insights. They end up saying something stupid because they are trying to come up with something insightful, because they can't say "Whoever scores more is better" and they generally aren't bright enough to come up with a real insight. I want some Rob Neyer-esque stat crunching

Most people think probably think Tom Tolbert is a schlub, but I think he is more insightful than most these guys. During one game he was mentioning how the Suns play avg D, not great D like SA, etc, but that those other teams play avg offense, not great offense like the Suns, so every thing evens out.

I just can't see how 1-1 SA is a "lock" to beat DEN, but we "are in big trouble" (said Barkley) if Memphis wins the next 2. The Suns are not getting their due respect. They are 2-0 and have the best road record this year! The Spurs no longer have home court and they are not that great on the road.

Heh, did Barkley really say that? What a stupid comment. Sure, the Suns would prefer to win at least one of the next two, but let's worry about what "trouble" they're in if they actually lose them.

I'll tell you this, though. If the Suns lose the next four, they will definitely be in trouble in this series. They might even get eliminated. I'll bet Barkley hasn't thought of that yet, but give him time.

Who is in deeper trouble? Griz or Suns? Why don't they say Griz is in trouble now because they are 0-2 and Suns is the best Road team?? WTF?

The way I see it is that many people are jealous of Suns' success. All they talk about is our weakness. They want to find EVERY SINGLE holes in our games but to their surprise, we won 62W and we could win 63W if Nash plays the final game.

I say 80% of the NBA fans are waiting for "I told you so" moments. "I told you running teams can't win!!!"

God, doesn't Suns strive for those challenges?
