and they just said they are still waiting. He is still in surgery and they dont think this is the definitive MRI. They think it will be 6 weeks after he is cleared before he plays in a game.

The doctor is in surgery. Not Amare. You're gonna scare the crap out of some people.

Basically, everyone is just guessing right now. Nash and D'Antoni guessed six weeks if all goes well, but nobody really has any idea.

They just showed a clip about Amare's rehab. Magic and Charles, afterward, said that he's not gonna be mentally prepared to be effective. But Kenny said that Amare was one of the only people who ever said something to him that made him go "hm." Apparently, before he came into the league, Kenny had no idea who Amare was and walked up to him and said "You ready big guy?". And Amare said "This league ain't seen nothin' like me."

Kenny said it was different than when a cocky guy says it. Amare really believed it and Kenny said he has to believe him now when he says he'll be ready.

The TNT special was pretty good. Magic and Charles don't believe that Amare will be "mentally" ready to come back this season. Kenny Smith's story gave me chills....I hope Amare comes back at peak form.:)

Just got this from the ESPN board...

"Paul Coro just reported on 910 A.M. that Amares MMRI went very well and he can proceed with workouts and more straineous practices! HE could possibly return by MArch! Amare will return this Season! Paul Coro is a writer for the Arizona Republic so he is credible!"

Did anybody else hear this on the radio?
I'd like confirmation from someone on this board before i believe it.

How could you doubt someone who got almost half of the letters in "strenuous" correct?

Every so often someone posts something that is so understated, yet deadly, that I start laughing. This is priceless.

O/T, I don't know if any of you read the JE Skeets Blog, but he has a very wicked wit. His dancing with the stars is very funny, watch out for the language if you go there. www.jeskeets.com

Amaré gets good news no trouble
Suns star's MRI shows no trouble

Suns forward Amaré Stoudemire received the positive news Thursday the team hoped he would get. The pivotal magnetic resonance imaging exam showed no problems.

The condition of his surgically repaired left knee will allow him to move forward with his rehabilitation, leading to the resumption of basketball activity, probably within the next few weeks.

It sounds like the MRI went well, but as they've been saying for weeks, it all depends on how Amare responds to more "straineous" activity.

Heh.

I just realized, after he's put all of the "straineous" activity behind him, does he then move on to "ex-straineous" activity?

Edit: Oh crap, devilalum beat me to it. Oh well.

(By the way, thanks reader! I've long been aware that my sense of humor doesn't appeal to too many on this board...)

Based on review of today's MRI scan taken of Amaré Stoudemire's surgically repaired left knee, and his asymptomatic condition, Amaré will continue his rehabilitation process with increased activities including jogging. There continues to be no specific timetable for his return to normal basketball activities.

This is good but not definitive.

I think it's the best possible news we could've gotten today. There was no way they'd tell us if he could return this season regardless of how the MRI came out, as it all depends on how Amare responds.

Sorry for repeating the azcentral.com link again. I guess I'm just a bit nervous and hopeful at the same time regarding Amare. I just wish there was more detailed information available. :thud:

However, I think it's like Mribnik says, "There was no way they'd tell us if he could return this season regardless of how the MRI came out, as it all depends on how Amare responds."

MRI clears Stoudemire for increased activity

PHOENIX (AP) -- Amare Stoudemire was cleared for increased activity, including jogging, after an MRI exam on Thursday showed no reason to slow his rehabilitation.

However, the Suns, in a brief statement, set no timetable for his return to the team.

The All-Star player has been sidelined all season following surgery on his left knee.

Although the Suns' statement was cautious, it was obviously good news, since any setback could mean Stoudemire would not play again until next season.

The best scenario has Stoudemire back with the team in early March.

"Once I get back to the motion of jogging and running, we're getting close," Stoudemire told the Arizona Republic during the Suns' just-completed road trip. "My thing is I just want to make sure I'm not feeling any pain regardless of what the MRI says. It's still up to me on how I feel and the pain tolerance."

The Suns wrapped up a 4-2 road trip with a victory at Boston on Wednesday night. The team had Thursday off but will practice Friday in preparation for a home game Saturday night against Chicago.

Despite the season-long absence of Stoudemire and the departure of Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson from last season's 62-win team, the Suns are 30-16 and lead the Pacific Division by 2 1/2 games over the second-place Los Angeles Clippers.

Just listened to KTAR talking with Coach D...he stated that AMare will start jogging the next 10 days with rest every 3 days...it will progress to running, then 5 on zero, then 3 on 3, 2 on 2, one on one with the team...and eventually 5 on 5...he stated that he should be ready around the first two weeks in March if he is up to it physically and mentally...the doctors are very confident.
