If there is one player they don't trade in the offseason, it's Tracy. Chad is really coming into his own and will only get better.

Where do you suggest we play him? I didn't know it was possible, but Tracy could be a worse defensive OF than Dunzo.

Dunzo's fielding was just fine when he hit 57 taters.

They should sit Gonzo next year. I don't care if he is going to make 11 million dollars next year. If he doesn't like it, maybe he'll ask for a trade.

I agree, just like Tracy's below average defense at 3B will be tolerable when he's hitting 25 HRs.

With recent moves displaying a total lack of foresight I can't help but

Are CJ and CQ going to sit next year while aging vets lead the team to sub-mediocrity?

I would like to see what Tracy can do fulltime. He needs to prove he can be a run producer and hit left handed pitching.

There's nothing 'recent' about the lack of foresight - this is EXACTAMUNDO what many of us have been screaming about that nincompoop Joe Jr. for the last few years. Bloated contracts, aging players, sentimental decision-making - leaving us with a bunch of untradeables who will stall the development of a young team that needs the opportunity to grow together. Not that

would play any rookies anyhow.
The one remotely packageable guy is the only expensive 2005 FA we should keep - Glaus. Probably pack him and CQ or CJ (or both) off for an over-the-hill starting pitcher. Gee - maybe we could get Schilling back.

I don't know who this Dunzo is but lets sign him to an extension if he hit 57 homers...;)

I couldn't agree more ZONA! I want to make sure Jackson and Quentin are the real thing before we send some one that good to anyone else.

And Zenny, do you think Joe Jr. make all the decisions this off season, Ortiz, Green, Glaus, or Moorad. I'm afraid it may be the latter, and we are looking at a long dry spell.

Joe Jr. is no longer with the Diamondbacks. He works for MLB.

If you mean did Voldemort make all the decisions this past off-season? - I am quite sure he was given some direction by Moorad and Matt Williams, although reportedly they mainly focused on clubhouse chemistry issues. (aka - pander to fan sentiment) Getting Shawn Green was primarily Moorad, sure. Ortiz was all Joe Jr., as was Estes. They are exactly the kinds of bum pitcher deals he has made all along, despite changes in ownership. Clayton and Counsell were also typical of past Joe moves. Glaus - that one perplexes me, because except for the cost, it was a fairly good move - but word was Kendricks had a lot of say on those negotiations.

Once a new GM is in place, although I expect this ownership will be more hands-on than some, at least in terms of setting philosophy, and Kendricks will watch the expenditures, the new GM probably will have considerable latitude.

Therefore, I plan to just hold my breath indefinitely. :thud:

The team would be crazy to trade Tracy right now, or Conor or Carlos. Old guys get hurt and are slow to recover, or they go too flat to keep playing (i.e. Matt Williams - keep that in mind, Gonzo, as your bat speed has started to diminish along with your arm) and the current knotty logjams may clear out unexpectedly.

If they DON'T change the veteran-heavy roster and the coaches significantly, the team will be just as lame and boring in 2006 - not to mention even older and slower.

I realize that Zona, that's why I'm scared because unlike Zenny, I think Moorad made most of the decisions this past off season. Therefore, bad decisions will keep on happening. I hope she is right and I'm wrong.

2005 145 503 73 155 34 4 27 72 278 35 78 .359 .553 .308

The above stats for Chad Tracy show that he is a star in the making. Plus the way he was the main reason for our winning streak until the last game of the season.

He belongs in our lineup. Where? 1B? Not as long as Tony Clark is even more magical than Chad.

3B? His fielding doesn't warrant it. And not with Troy Glaus leading the power stats as he did.

RF? Not with his weak arm.

That leaves LF. But I'd like to see Gonzo finish out the last year of his contract with the D'backs. He is deteriorating, but he's still solid.

What a pleasant dilemma. Logically, it would be LF.
