It's been bothering me that Todd Graham looks and sounds like someone familiar to me. Then, today, watching the news, I had an epiphany.

Todd Graham, I dub thee ... Coach Hee Haw ...

It all looks like boot-camp theatrics to me. No doubt, the best coaches who win every year not only recruit well but run a very organized practice regimen. What Graham is doing is very over-the-top, something for show and not just discipline, just like everything else he's done since the day he got on the plane to Tempe.

I'm hoping beyond all hope this amounts to something of substance, but what I've seen so far from Graham as the head coach makes me roll my eyes. Proof's in the pudding. Graham as CEO has kept me interested. I like his staff. I like the schemes. I like the way they're interacting with local talent. It's when he walks and talks and does the ****-and-bull and turns practice into a circus act that I start remembering what made me so nervous when he was hired.

As I recall ASU baseball coach Bobby Winkles (who I considered a great coach) had his players running and hustling in most every activity. Obviously I'm not comparing Graham to Winkles, but there is something to be said for this style of coaching.

I would take this over Erickson's lack of discipline any day of the week.

Denny Green did the same thing with the Cardinals when he was made Head Coach.
