Not sure how real they are but I saw on a UCLA board that there's talk the reason Bennett told WSU he wants to hold off on a new contract until after the season is he might want the Minnesota job. I just can't understand why he'd consider that an upgrade? Sure he's a Midwest kid but Minnesota's program is terrible right now, 9 wins, 3 best scorers are all juniors so he'd have them for one year. he loses one key guy(Ivory Clark) this year at WSU.

Minnesota has had all kinds of problems with the latest being the academic scandal a few years ago, the program is in clear decline. If the money were equal I can't imagine giving up WSU for Minnesota?

In order to get to Pullman you have to fly into Spokane (not exactly a major hub) and drive two hours through barren farmlands. It's easily the most difficult place in the Pac-10 to recruit to which is why pretty much every successful coach that has coached there has left for greener pastures.

I also wouldn't be suprised to see Oregon make a run at him if the DUcks keep falling apart.

Oh I realize that but if he stays there he can surely get a better job than Minnesota?

Seems to me as hot as he'll be after this year taking that job would be a step down?

I'd rather live near farmland than freeze my butt off and have to explain to recruits that no we don't have tutors doing your schoolwork for you anymore you actually will be expected to do that yourself.

Just think Minnesota is a really bad situation right now, but if they pony up the money I'm sure he'd consider it. My guess is he's trying to get more money out of WSU or leverage a better offer somewhere else.

Oregon is assumed to be looking at Monty and Few(from Oregon) if they dump Ernie.

Wilner wrote an article today saying Lute will retire after next season, maybe Bennett holds out and gets an offer from UA?

If my only choices for coaching employment were WSU or Minehaha, I'd find another line of work.

The Valley so low.
Minneapolis-St. Paul is one of the absolute premier cities of the world. I don't favor the cold, but I'd choose to live there over, say, LA any day of the year.
