Tony Jefferson hits the nail right on the head

I have said it before, and I will say it again. When Bruce Arians first became coach, and was at a press conference in the preseason before his first season, a reporter asked him about being very particular about "little things".

Arians, simply said, "There are no little things, everything in big." and went on to talk about things like handing the ref the football at the end of games, and how the smallest details cost you games.

Here is Jefferson pretty much saying that on Tuesday:

“We have to do better situational football,” Jefferson said. “Execution and playing smart is what got us those (close) wins, and I don’t think we have been 100 percent playing smart at end of games. For the most part, it’s been us beating us.”

I 100% agree. Gotta start breaking this all down and getting back to basics. All the scheme, knowledge and organization is null if you don't take care of the little things that support it.

It sure would help too if the team got off to faster starts and built a lead, rather than a deficit. This team needs a hunger and a passion---it is playing way too tentatively. I don't agree with BA when he says the players are "trying too hard." No---they are not trying hard enough---and trying applies to both the physical and the mental aspects of their game.

Agreed. Hence know the situation you are in.

While "X" might work at this point of the game, "X" may not work at another.

This is my thing with the defense, I cannot really find this great talent which people speak of on this team when I turn to this side of the ball. Peterson, Campbell, Honey Badger (when healthy and playing up front) and maybe Jones, is all I can come up with. I just really see a bunch of role player types who are not that athletic and being asked to do a variety of things which in reality they are not exceptional at. A bunch of Golden players who get by on hustle but wear out trying to do things they are not physically capable of for four full quarters. Sure, maybe Bucannon could be a great strong safety but that is yet to be seen. Jefferson makes a ton of tackles but athletically he leaves a lot to be desired. So far this year, Peterson looks to be the only guy which I would call elite and his play suffers due to all the Keystone Cops incidents resulting in big plays because the others guys seemed to be asked unrealistic responsibilities in Bettcher's complex pregame schemes which seem to allow for no adjustments even if he wanted to because the players are already spread thin with what they are capable of... his tape is out and the opposing offenses already know Bettcher and the defense's limitations trying to execute the unrealistic objectives

I basically said the same thing right after Cooper whiffed going for the pick and Jefferson over-ran his angle to the TE which led to an easy TD:

This team has no attention to detail or discipline. Reminds me of some of the under achieving teams under Denny Green rest his soul.

It's pretty hard to see that kind of stuff getting fixed in on a short week.

SF has the worst run D in the league right now. This game should be a massive dose of DJ and AE, short slants to fitz/floyd/brown and some playaction bombs. Stanton can handle that.

Almost unimaginable that the NFL's leading offense in 2015, which returned EVERY player who scored a TD for the team in last season, is now the ONLY team in the NFL that still has yet to record a single point in the first quarter... Crazy...

He's great in the run game & very good at covering TEs. Not many flaws in his game at all. That's one guy Keim CANNOT let get away.

The issue with Jefferson is that it is tough to play him on the field at the same time as Mathieu. That is the only reason you would not re-sign Jefferson other than a huge difference in money.
