Seven-part Australian/UK miniseries. Premiered at Sundance and then aired on their channel this year. Available on Netflix.

This was brilliant in so many ways. Riveting, dark and also very disturbing.

Stars Elisabeth Moss (Peggy from Mad Men).

Good first four episodes, then it all went downhill for me. Too much.

<--------lightweight when it comes to violence towards women and children.

Yes, it is definitely not an easy show to watch. Heavy, disturbing subjects. You will rarely see a TV show that treads these types of territories (and does it so well). Serious, original, character-driven television.

I tend to agree. I just don't think they knew how to end it. The last few episodes lacked the same energy. The "Luke, I'm your father stuff was iffy. The "every child under the age of 15 as well as almost all the female characters being raped" stuff was ridiculously gratuitous.

Major spoilers below:
I did expect them to reveal that Mitcham was Robin's father ever since her mother asked her not to see Johnno, so I could buy into that. However, I did find it a bit of a cop out that in the end neither of the two purportedly incestuous relationships turned out to be so. Almost as if they tried to give the show a somewhat of a less pessimistic ending despite all indications to the contrary. But then again, how do you end a show that throughout seemed to offer virtually no hope at all for any sort of a satisfying resolution?

My wife and I started watching this last night on Netflix and are really enjoying it. I think we just rolled though about episodes in one sitting. Peggy Moss's performance is outstanding, but my favorite character is "GJ", the mystical weird leader of the ladies living in those shipping characters. Nice to have another show to watch as we kinda ran out for a while there.
