Magadan is out as hitting coach. I hope they don't promote from within for that position. They need a much better approach at the plate than what has been emphasized internally.

The pen irrecoverably fell apart and the team gave up, but the pen fell apart because too much was asked of them for too long. You can't expect to win scoring 2 or 3 runs over and over and your starters leaving after 5 or 6.

I think Shelby Miller's return really was the straw that broke the back. Our already taxed bullpen now had to do, virtually scheduled, mop up duty for 7 innings every 5th game for 3 weeks in the middle of a 3 way pennant chase.

Miller should have had a much longer rehab assignment. Not just to see if he was healed but to see if his stuff was better than a pitching machine. It wasn't.
