I guess I'm on a survival movie kick. A few nights ago I watched 127 hours, and Touching the Void is in the same vein.
It's done like a feature-length discovery channel show -- interviews with the actual climbers cut with re-enactments of their ordeal. In a nutshell, these two Brits are climbing a never before summitted face somewhere in the Andes. It's really hairy. On decent a guy breaks his leg. It's already a death sentence, but they figure out a system that should get them both off the mountain. But that goes bad and the injured guy falls into a crevasse. The other guy descends by himself, assuming his partner dead. He's not...he miraculously climbs out.
A real testament to the human will to live. Just like 127 hours.
