Something else to consider here guys, this preseason schedule is brutal. SB winner Pitt followed recent SB winner NE followed by a STRONG defense in Chicago followed by an always strong Denver. These are not your "average" teams. I too am concerned about our inability to run the ball AND our inability to stop the run. But let's remember who the competition is.

I'm never really concerned about the final score, moreso the first half performances.

I hate having them play both Chicago and Denver in preseason as they play both those teams during the regular season. You can bet that only basic plays will be called by both teams. They will not want to so call "give anything away."

Chicago has given up 258 yards rushing in their first two preseason games so it'll be interesting to see how our rushing offense does against them.

There are two sides to scheduling tough teams in preseason.

Pro - You play the best, and playing the rest of the teams will seem like a cakewalk.

Con - When you play defenses that can screw up your offense, you never get the chance to execute the plays properly and for your offensive players to get ingrained in their DNA - what it feels like to run each play properly. (i.e. how can your receivers practice their downfield blocking when your RB's never get past the LOS?)

I agree about the downside of scheduling preseason games against teams we have to play later on. We shouldn't do it.

One final concern - the playing surface in Chicago. It used to suck. We've suffered some pretty horrific injuries in Detroit and Minnesota in the past. Chicago used be known for having a lousy field. Anyone know if this has changed?

In the past teams set up their own preseason schedule. I believe that the NFL now totally does that. In other words, teams have no choice on their preseason schedule.

I don't know for sure, but I assume that they upgraded the field when the stadium was remodeled a couple of years ago.
