Thought it would be a good idea to have a thread that just keeps up with how former Suns players are doing for their respective teams.

1. Steve Nash in a win over the Clips records 3 pts and 5 ast in 21 minutes. His backup, Jordan Farmer had 16 and 6 in 27. Steve is coming to the end I think. He got a DNPCD in the Warrior game.

2. Jared Dudley started but had a lackluster performance for the Clips.

3. Wes Johnson went 1-11. Yikes! He did go 4-11 in the Warrior game and got 25 minutes. Looks like DAntoni is going to play the young man.

4. Scola with 8 pts and 1 reb in 21 minutes. At this moment, I would have traded Scola for Plumlee straight up.

5. Gortat with 9 and 9 in 21 minutes. That is a good showing. I wonder if he and Nene can play together.

Steve Nash didn't play because they are resting him on back to backs like Dwayne Wade, not cause he's no longer good enough.

But that's part of the evaluation. Not being able to play every game all season long isn't good enough.

BTW, didja see that Robin Lopez got, I think it was, 2 points and 2 rebounds as a starter against our Plumlee who had 18 points and 15 rebounds. What a contrast.

Earl is starting at SF for the Cavs... had a decent game in their win over Brooklyn. Nine points on 4/10 shooting, 8 boards, 1 ast, 1TO in 27 min.

Wow. You mean he may have become a decent NBA player after all? I didn't think he had it in him. Good for him.

Don't you remember Earl played quite well for the Lakers last year. He stepped in when Pau was ailing and stepped up... there were several games they wouldn't have won without him. Shocked the heck out those who were paying attention...

Even more stunning, Beasley is still on the Miami roster...

I don't remember it. I remember him having a stretch of pretty good games but I don't remember him "playing quite well". He disappeared often and still finished "his best year by far" comfortably below league average in PER and WS/48. He then disappeared completely in the playoffs. I think hiding him inside Mike's system will be the highlight of his career.

Jermaine O'Neal is backing up Bogut for the Warriors... probably get plenty of playing time doing that.

I watched some of the games and he did play quite well. It was shocking to see him taking the right shots, passing when he should, rebounding, putting effort into defense... hard to believe it was the same guy we had. He really seemed to have grasped the concept of 'team'.

I watched some of the games too and my point was, he didn't keep up with that level of performance. I saw him play after that stretch and there were times when he looked just like the player that we gave up on. He's never lacked in potential, his problems have always been upstairs. I just don't think he's turned that proverbial corner. I guess LA didn't think so either as they let him go and it's not like it would have taken much to keep him. He signed a 2 year deal in Cleveland for 4.25 per and even then it includes a team option for the 2nd year.

Dudley with a decent game for the Clips tonight. 10 points on 6 shots.

Amare made his season debut for the Knicks and looked like he was trying to play concrete shoes. Guy is a ghost at this point. Cant move at all on defense, was given the ball with room at the elbow, tried to do his old "one dribble, two long strides towards the hoop move", got the dribble off but was so slow to gather himself defenders arrived, he tried to go over them... only to get blocked AND commit an offensive foul. With every season he seems to get about 50% worse.

Stoudemire is a sad case. Although he had his flaws even during his peak, he mainly meant well. He deserves better than this.

Agreed. I find no joy in his decline.

Steve

As I have said before, I'd like to bring Nash and Stoudemire back one season for the minimum and let them finish their careers here. I guess I'm sentimental. With the Suns youth movement this seems unlikely.

I don't know if he's ever expressed interest in it but Nash would make a great coach some day. Could certainly see us bringing him back for that.

I don't see it. He does not have the personality for a coach IMO. He certainly has the brains for it. I can seem him as a team exec.

That's the way I feel too but I'd have said pretty much the same thing about Jason Kidd. They are both very smart players but I don't see either of them as having the right personality to coach. OTOH, we really only see what they want us to see so maybe there is a lot more than we know.

For all practical purposes, Nash has already finished his career. As for Stoudemire, I'd prefer to remember him as he was.

Don't forget it was reported not too long ago that Nash's long-term goal is eventually to become Prime Minister of Canada by starting in the Victoria, British Columbia, Mayor's race.

An NBA coach or even front office executive is a small inducement vs. entering politics in his home country of Canada. If it were about joining a political party in the U.S. and all of their chaos in these times, then I could see him picking the NBA. :bang:

Enough is enough? Always the personal insult in responding to a post.

I'm just wondering whether you'll ever cultivate a BS detector. It's hard to take someone seriously when he treats truth and fiction as having the same weight.

My post was about Nash running for political office in Canada after he retires, as opposed to becoming an NBA coach or front office executive.

No, your post was that his political aspirations were "reported," which is wrong, unless you count satire as a "report."

And how do you know that Steve's ambition to get into politics in his homeland (as opposed to becoming an NBA coach or front office executive) does not exist? Or which he would consider more important.

I respect your opinion, but not your censoring mine with insults. Despite your profession, this is not a court of law. It is a public forum for exchanging sports ideas.

Why don't you plan a New Years resolution to not mix up the two? Seriously, Eric! You are not going to censor my presenting or weighing possibilities in some of my posts no matter how "enough" you consider it.

Peace, brother!

You said there was already a report to the effect. The report was bogus.

I respect your opinion, but not your censoring mine with insults.

You didn't state it as an opinion! You said that it's already in Nash's head. If you had written, "I have a hunch that Nash may have a career in politics, as some have already joked," I would have had no problem at all.

It is a public forum for exchanging sports ideas.

But if it's a forum for presenting falsehoods as fact, then how can we talk about anything?

Tell you what: Next time you gripe about how the Suns' aversion to traditional centers has prevented them from winning a championship, I'll say, "Well, it has been reported that they actually won the title in 2005." And then when you say, no, it hasn't, and they didn't, I'll say it's just my opinion. How does that sound?
