I seriously think this would be very good for the Suns in certain scenarios.

Say Josh Smith would be available at #3 or #4 and the Suns are in the top2 with Atlanta out and Charlotte at #4.

Most teams will want to trade in the top2 to take one of the PF prospects Okafor or Howard.

They might want to do it so bad we could package a top2 pick with Eisley and get an expiring contract or nice player along with a top4 pick and still draft the BPA like Josh Smith.

In any case the player we could get for Eisley could probably be attractive enough to get a team under the cap to just take him or keep him.

If the Suns get the #1 pick, I bet they could trade it (with Eisley, even) for Mr. Small Hands himself, Kwame Brown.

Having the #1 or #2 pick in this draft would give the Suns a great deal of 'flexibility'. :|

I guess that wouldn't be too bad because Brown is close to be a legit starting center and getting better.

We would also save the money of the lottery pick and we wouldn't really need to sign an expensive center just extend Brown and JJ.

But I wouldn't like having no pick at all and a top2 pick and a bad contract for a prospect like Kwame who needs to be extended soon doesn't thrill me much unless Washington wants to trade up and offer their own pick.

As much as I'd like to get rid of Eisley's contract, I would not give up the chance for Okafor to do it.

If Howard is as good as they say I would be more concerned about losing him than Okafor. In fact if I had the choice between Okafor and a #4-5 plus getting rid of Howard Eiseley and his contract I would take the latter any day of the week.

I honestly think Okafor is going to be somewhere between Ben Wallace and Malik Rose in the NBA. That doesn't really excite me with one of the top picks in the draft even though it would help the Suns.

We don't really need Okafor. Sure he is a good player and MAYBE he can play center but if we go after a center like Okur in free agency and bank on Lampe we don't really need a PF.

I would definately entertain the thought of trading Eisley and Okafor for say Josh Smith and an expiring contract.

A top2 pick could be really really valueable. Imagine Orlando doesn't get a top2 but badly wants Okafor who knows what they would be willing to share? Or Boston? Boston could have a top7 pick. They might be willing to trade Pierce and #7 for Marion and #1 and even take on something more.

I hope we get lucky in the lottery for once.

The Bobcats will have the #4 pick.

I guess they would be a serious trading partner since the might be able to just swallow Eisley's contract and swap picks with us.

I guess they would rather get a big guy in the lottery than a guard to build their team.

Also, the Suns now have the reputation of allowing themselves to get reamed in trades, so every team will probably be trying to make a deal with them.

If Howard really is the next KG, then yes he deserves to the #1. But for the Suns to have a Ben Wallace who can score, I'd really think twice about passing on him.

Right now Detroit is second in the East and Wallace is the only player they have who is even close to being an elite player. (Billips is having a good year, but not THAT good).

I really like the idea of having a dominating defender/rebounder in the post. The Suns have consistently gone for "pretty scorers" but winners alway are able to stop their opponents. Even if Lampe turns out to be really good high post center, I'd love to have someone who can dominate the boards at crunch time.

Look at this team. They score 95 points but give up 110, yet the answer is to get another shooter?

Don't get me wrong. I am very intrigued by Josh Smith and he is likely to be my third choice. But I'd rather have Okafor.

You could put Ben Wallace on this team and they'd still give up 105. Defense is a team effort. You can't have one guy who plays defense and four who don't. Yes, the Suns' interior defense is weak, but so are their rebounding -- which is not the same thing -- and their perimeter defense.

Yes rebounding and defense is NOT the same thing. Cliff Robinson is a very good defender and not much as a rebounder.
Wallace does both, which is why I'd love to have someone with his kind of skills.

I the Suns get a top pick they'll probably give it to some team to take Eisley off their hands.

The Colangelos SUCK!!!

If you can't play with the big boys then sell the damn team to someone who can!

I've been following this team for over 30 years and this is the lowest I've felt about them since the drug scandel.

Oh I think a Ben Wallace would do wonders for the Phoenix Suns. I don't think Okafor is nearly as good as Ben Wallace though. I think he is smaller and less athletic and probably not as good on the boards.
