Would you trade Gonzo?? Sure he is the heart of this team but he has had problems delivering and IMO is not the clean up hitter we need.

Whether Gonzo hits over or under .300 . . .
Whether he hits 35 or 20 homeruns . . . . .
Whether he makes those sliding catches or not . . .

(a) he's still, by far and away, our big RBI guy

(b) he's one of the best situational power-hitters in the league

(c) of all our position players, he's the heart-and-soul of the team

(d) he's a great example for the young players

I wouldn't want to see us without Gonzo, until he's ready to retire. And, when that time comes, I don't think he'll prolong it.

Trade Gonzo? I hope not!

Trade Gonzo? Dunno 'bout that.

But it has dawned on me of late that he has been terribly overrated in the "heart and soul" and "good example" categories. This team is completely lacking in veteran leadership... even though one roster spot is being used on a certain washed-up 1B whose contribution was supposed to be almost exclusively in that area.

This is the thing.

Would I trade Gonzo for Vlad....YEAH!

Would I trade him for a comparable player who may have a questionable attitude....NO!

The deal would have to be pretty sweet and I don't think Gonzo is worth as much to anybody else as he is to us.
