Leaving Friday for a 4000 mile trip around the Western US. And will be making a stop in Flag for Training Camp. 25th-until I get tired of hanging around. When are you guys going and where should I stay that would be best if I stay for 3,4 days?

I can give you guys reviews on hotels in PHX and better directions to the tourists than the locals but don't know much about Flagstaff. Previous trips we stayed in Sedona.

And, no, I don't want any directions to get somewhere from Rugby. :p

Jersey and I will be there from the 27th through the 29th with some of our other tailgate buddies. I would stay anywhere downtown. Staying in Sedona will be pricey. Unfortunately the Drury is sold out since that is really the best place to stay. Free hot breakfast and a free Happy Hour that includes food.

My son Chris and I will be heading up to Flag on Monday the 23rd to celebrate his 21st birthday (on the 24th), do some mountain biking and of course taking in Cardinals camp on the 25th and 26th. We are staying at the Ramada off 1-17 and 40... I like the location as we can ride our bikes to camp and there is a Buffalo Wild Wings across the street.

Dunno when Im going up. Itll be a day trip. Or possibly go up the prior evening, camp (or just drink) overnight and be up for practice the next day. Whatever practice is "the best". Possibly the red/white scrimmage. Im not going up day 1. I saw what that looked like at FanFest. I wouldnt be able to stomach another one of those showings by Kolb.

Thinking about taking me Lady and the new 4 cylinder (new to us) up there for a day or 2 if our schedules coincide. I'm looking for a camp ground if yall got any tips, haven't done Flagg in a minute, but I would like to camp away from that jazz if anyone knows about a sweet spot.

We are planning on going up for one night but not until mid August. We booked a room at the Drury as of right now. This will be our first time staying overnight.

Unfortunately won't be able to make it up this year (so bummed), but my friends and I always stay at the Hotel Monte Vista. It's in downtown, a little older, but a very cool place to stay, and you can walk around downtown at night if you so choose - there's a few neat little places to go, Beaver Street Brewery is within walking distance, etc. etc.

Do the trains still run through downtown? Stayed there many years ago with my parents and that's something I remember.

They do, but I've personally never been bothered by them when I stay there. I think everyone has a different sensitivity to that though.

Duck, we usually stay at the Aspen Inn and Suites. It is older but you get an actual suite and great Breakfast in the mornings for free. Good price nice place. Not going up till Aug this year unless I get a wild hair.

Don't forget that the Cards will not have practices in Flagstaff from August 4th-12th and August 16-19th. The last practice is 8/21

I'm in the cool pines of Flag for 3 days and hope to see a practice in between family outings. I booked my room a while back and thought the Card practices did not start until Friday. I love training camp in Flag, to me it's like a field of dreams for any football fan; the sight of Cardinal Red against the backdrop of grass so green it hurts your eyes, the pine trees, mountains, clouds, thunderstorms, and occasional rain shower. It gets my blood boiling and I am ready for some football. :koolaid:
