The first movie was excellent, apart from the stupid robots hiding in the yard scene. This one...I kept looking at my watch waiting for it to be over. The first one had the nerd-boy turned into hero aspect. This one slammed you over the head over and over and over and over about how he's just GOT to be the hero boy that saves the day. It tried to be super-serious and super-deep. It ended up being cheesy in a very bad way. I cringed as I waited for the stupid 'I love you' moment. Ugh. The story seemed bad, the character development was bad, the new robots (except for the old plane--he was cool) were bad. The sidekick was awful. The bad government guy was less than cardboard cutout. All it had was the action, and it was even harder to follow than in the first movie. Waste of money. I think the first movie caused a lot of people to go out and watch this one, and that's why all the money is being spent on it. Curious that after this one, Bay is off board with the franchise, eh?

I say if you want all that quasi-literary stuff, go read a book. I put myself in a mindset of an eight year old, and I loved it.

Yeah, a movie about robots who change into things is going to be an intellectual masterpiece. :)

That's funny considering your last few sentences. Especially since just about every movie site you go to it is getting stellar reviews. The only one it isn't is rotten tomatoes and that's with less than 200 reviewers. Not much of a sample size.

Also where did you hear that Bay was done?

Can you tell me exactly what you and pthers were looking for in the character development category. I'm betting if they didvthe things you and a very few others were looking for it wouldn't be a summer action blockbuster making money by the truck full. But a complete bomb instead. IMHO.

The movie doesn't have to be an intellectual masterpiece...but we're expected to sit through dogs humping each other, a robot humping a human, a robot trying to hump a human, robots farting, and consider that what makes up a blockbuster?

But I guess when Bumblebee shot his wad in the female robot's face that was supposed to blockbuster material?

I was hoping for a repeat of the 1st movie, I rented that one and though I had to see #2 at the theater so I wouldn't miss out on the experience. Bad decision.

In the context of a silly movie, i laughed at each of the above. Missed the shot his wad part.

I found very easy to look past parts of the movie I didn't like. It was fun.

Although it is a rumor and not confirmed.

TRANSFORMERS movie - the director is set to quit the action franchise because he has “had enough” of making big budget blockbusters. The filmmaker helmed the original 2007 movie and returned this year with its sequel - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. But Bay, who is known for his explosive action sequences, is sick of receiving negative reviews from critics who dislike his movie-making style and is determined to move away from the genre.

I thought the movie was terrible.

I give it 1 1/4 stars out of 5.

1 star for the Megan Fox on a motorcycle scene, 1/4 star for the gratuitous low cut shirt running scene.

The movie was long and just boring.

My sentiments exactly. She is the only reason this movie does not get 0 stars. I may deduct a star since she has awful taste in guys.

It was impossible to keep track of the action. The action scenes were just one big blur of loud, obnoxious metal. Too over the top to keep track of. The story was weak, the acting was awful, way too long, and the dialogue was extra cheezy.

I have to say what are poeple talking about with this sentiment. So amny people saying it. Went with 5 others and we all were laughing at the reviews that were saying this. It was clear as day for all of us. Maybe its the superior projectors that Ultrastar theaters in Surprise have compared to those of Harkins and AMC? Love that new theater, really the screens and picture at that theater compared to AMC and Harkins is like comparing HD with Regular TV.

I will say this though, what the heck does Steve Spielberg see in that Shia dude. Steve apparently loves the kid and called him the next Harrison Ford, and wants to put him in everything he directs or produces. Really, what the heck is he talking about, I personally hate the dudes acting.

Quasi-literary? I don't even have to respond, because your own post basically negated itself :p

I love cheesy movies that put me in mind of an 8-year old. I love mindless fun in movies. Hell, I enjoy Commando as an action flick, and on the face of it that movie just plain sucks. But why do I like movies like Commando? Because it doesn't try to take itself too seriously. Transformers 2 was clearly trying to transcend what it did in the first movie and become a real emotional gut-wrenching, tear-jerking movie. It failed MISERABLY. If it had left all of that crap out and stuck with what made the first one good, this one would have rocked. Instead, with all the stupid emotion they tried and failed to pump into it, I lost interest.

Fair enough. I didn't get any of that at all. You don't have to get so excited. :)

I am a bit confused about how you think it was trying to be too serious, but Louis thought it was being to sophomoric.

Why can't a summer action movie be made competently? The Dark Knight was. Iron Man was. Heck, even The Incredible Hulk was. This was not.

No-brainer action flick is a lame excuse to cover up how bad a movie is.

I didn't think it was as bad as people are saying. Not at all.

:lmao:

Can you explain what you mean with this statement? Because I honestly feel like we watched 2 entirely different movies.

Where in any part of this movie did they try and make it an emotional tear jerker? Gut wrenching? etc....

This movie was about as light hearted as they come considering the premise of world destruction. It was comedic, full of action and just an overall good time.

I also noticed you didnt have a retort for the overall fantastic ratings this thing is getting refuting your comment that the only reason people are seeing this is because of the hype related to part 1?

With as many movies that come out every year, what's wrong with having a few where my only care is that they blow a bunch of **** up?

Because a "few" turns into "many" if they make enough money.

I thought the movie was entertaining. I went there to see cool FX and lots of Transformers kicking ass. I got what I paid for. The story was blah and some of the language was totally unnecessary but it was still fun IMO and worth the admission.

Plus FOX is so freaking hot.

So? There are plenty of intellectual movies, there won't be a shortage. I see and enjoy those far more, but every now and then I want a movie full of random violence. I want all action and hot chicks, I don't care about the characters, I hope they all die, I just wanna watch.

Another voice of reason around here. :iwin:
