I predict at some point this summer, Gibby and Bauer are going to be at odds in the locker room. Gibby is kicking butt in there trying to corral some bad attitudes. As awesome as Bauer is, he's aloof and defensive when it comes to receiving coaching. He thinks the concerns about his pitch count are about his arm. He has to get over that. It's about good baseball and playing defense. If he doesn't figure that out, it might not matter how awesome he is, because Gibby won't let anyone but Gibby be in charge in the clubhouse, and he DEFINITELY won't let a rookie pitcher shrug off the coaching staff like the kid's reinventing the game.

It's my only concern. Because when it comes to being a pitcher, Bauer has A+ kind of stuff.

Well, I'm excited to see this. And I haven't been excited about much this season.

7 runs in 4 innings in his second game, the first at home. Wow!

It really make you appreciate what Wade Miley has done so far this season.

All that self-promoting by Bauer hasn't helped his cause.

Every game like this puts immense pressure on Bauer, because he's been so politically incorrect in defense of his game prep and system. That he was so annoyed that the D-Backs publicly called him out on game management was extra grease, and this game started a little grease fire.

He's young. He has a lot of time to develop, and he can go back to the minors if this ends up being his current situation. I continue to wonder about his ability to be coached, though.

I think someone had a talk with him about listening to his veteran catcher. His box score was great but the pitches over their head and the ball hitting the ground in front of the batter's box were still there. Montero did a good job blocking them. Hat's off the TB, 1st of many wins.

'Looks like the Bauer/Corbin tandem could equal one dependable "starting" pitcher.

It reminds me of the Miracle Mets of '69. The rookie Nolan Ryan (who had to dip his hands in pickle juice after every performance because of blisters) pitched half of the game and Jim McAndrew the rest until it was time for Tug McGraw, the closer.
