With Kevin Love now in Cleveland this pushes Tristan Thompson to the bench. It's also the last year of his rookie deal. I doubt Cleveland will match a large offer next summer, but isn't the same idiot who represents Bledsoe also Thompson's agent? If so, I highly doubt the Suns would even be interested in dealing with that dimwit again. If not, perhaps at some point he will be up for a trade this season? I know the Cavs have visions of a ring this season and so with their lack of depth up front they may feel keeping him, if only for this season, is worth it. Thoughts?

(If this is already being/have been discussed in a previous thread, my apologies.)

The Suns better not offer a whole lot for Tristan Thompson. Does he play defense?

don't think they'll move him even with a year left on his deal, even though he's likely to walk at the end of the season. that Cavs team is already wafer thin with big bodies.

Yup. I would think the strategy with that team would be to pound it inside. Can Marion play decent perimeter D anymore?

I just looked up Cleveland's defense at the rim for last year... it was pretty bad and they got rid of all six guys that were better than average, not that they played very many minutes - Deng, Anthony Bennett, Tyler Zeller, Bynum, Henry Sims and Sergey Karasev.

Varejao is still there, he is a very solid defensive big and he was certainly their best defender last season. But they need a guy like Tristian because you cant trust Anderson to stay healthy. Last year was the first time since 09/10 that Varejao played more than half their games, and he was not exactly an iron man with 65 games played.

But I think they'll be better than average defensively. James is one of the best defenders in the NBA and he can cover 4 positions on the court. And for all the belly aching people have about Kevin Love, a huge part of defense is getting the rebound, and he is better at that than anyone in the NBA.

I'm surprised he was not sent to MIN in the Love deal. He can rebound and is pretty athletic. He is listed at 6'9 but is probably more like 6'8 and is pretty raw offensively. Offensively not better than Morris but a better rebounder. He is similar to Love defensively but not better than Morris.

He doesn't play D and is no better than Kieff Morris.
