Ed Note - Pinnacle will most likely only cover this morning's practice. We will look to other sources for any material pertaining to the afternoon practice.
Overview:
This workout was characterized by the lack of anything particularly newsworthy. Practice was crisp but less intense than past workouts. Sully's shouting voice was in rare form - not confined to one or two individuals but directed to "everyone."

Offense vs. Defense
There seems to be a pattern developing where practice starts off with the defense dominating the offense. Then it evens out. Eventually, the offense begins to prevail.
The New Guy
Josh Rue lined up at fullback. Pinnacle thinks he was wearing #46.
Quarterbacks
McCown looked the sharpest of the three. Blake completed a bunch of passes but threw a couple of picks. McCown through a long TD to Lorenzo Diamond.
Running Backs
Pinnacle says the RB's are lining up pretty much according to the depth chart - which means that Scobey is hanging on to the #3 RB spot with Anderson and Prentice rated behind him.
Wide Receivers
With Foster out, Kasper was paired with Gilmore in the first unit. Boldin continued to be the top slot guy when called on. He had the most catches of the morning/most of them short. The deep stuff was going to Kasper, Gilmore and Walker (who caught most of them). In response to an AFSN post concerning McAddley's ankle - he didn't seem to be favoring anything today. The way drills work - first the WR's run routes without the QB present. Then they practice route running with the QB throwing the ball, but without any defenders out there. Finally, they go up against defenders. Walker seems to struggle most in route-running drills and does a little better when matched against a defender.
Tight Ends
Diamond caught a long TD pass from Parsons. Banks had a nice catch.
Offensive Line
Kendall returned to action. Grace played some center and screwed up the snap a couple of times to get a well-deserved chewing of the butt.
Defensive Line
Ken King and Bell were the two guys who (positively) caught Pinnacle's eye/
Linebacker
Darling and Woods turned the most heads this morning.
Secondary
Dexter Jackson continued to look good and (surprise!) Renaldo Hill had a couple of picks.
Special Teams
Who appears on starting coverage and return units may signal guys in position battles who have the edge because they're also contributing on special teams: Scobey, Kasper and Quenton Harris were three guys Pinnacle remembers seeing on the kickoff coverage unit. On punt return coverage, Newhouse was decleated - either by Darling or Woods.
Last Word
Not a real eventful morning. I suspect we are seeing a shift in (media and possibly team) focus from "which guys are flashing?" to the more humdrum business of getting assignments and timing down (the time for impressing coaches being during the preseason games themselves). - JGG
