Rick from Precision Garage is a crook. Anyone who needs their garage door fixed, do not call that company.

For plumbing problems, do not call No Worries Rooters. The worker Adrian did not even look at the problem(water heater) and told the owner they need a new water heater. I would never call this company. By the way, Adrian is no even a licensed plumber.

Do not call Drain Pro either. They also did not look at the water heater and told the owner the heater could blow up, but the only problem was a loose nut.

For your AC, do not call Ace Air for a tune-up. The two air conditioners were fine but they said they needed some fixing(capacitor) for over $370.00.

American Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning are crooks. A guy named George tried to get them to pay over $3800.00 in repairs and there was nothing wrong.

Yep forsure. That's the company line over at Ace AC. I have seen it with my own eyes.

My brother in law (Sean) is an HVAC tech... My neighbor got a $3000 estimate from Ace so I asked Sean to look at it before he went ahead with it.

Sean fixed it for him, all it needed was a capacitor (which by the way costs between $5 and $40) http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=13M3900&CMP=AFC-GB100000001 and it took him all of 5 minutes to install it. My neighbor called Ace AC and told them what he did and that they were crooks and the guy just hung up on him. The WORST part is that they added his number to their telemarketing list so now he gets 3 telemarketing calls a week from the company who tried to rip him off. That company is garbage, they have a HORRIBLE record with the BBB to.

Precision Garage is a national franchise. They rip people off in every city. There have been programs on TV about them several times in the past. I'm in the business and they do nothing but give the industry a bad name.

The problems which they rigged the garage door with can really be fixed over the phone without any charges to the customer. Just tell them what to do. Take the operator off lock so the transmitters work. It's easy to diagnose the bad safety sensors also. People can fix it themselves. We do it all the time. It's good PR. When they have a real problem they call us.

The guy Andy Pomroy who was the garage door expert is one of my competitors here in Albq. Good guy and very honest

Edit to add: I was surprised they only had a couple of the companies they called that even had signs on their trucks. I'm not sure if they were just trying to expose the fly by night outfits or what. The rate of bad contractors would probably have gone down had they called more legit companies, at least those that have a yellow page ad with an actual physical address.

Not having a physical address is a tip off for any unlicensed business or some dude just operating out of his house

Awesome thread, Lefty.

We should have something like this that members can refer to when looking for repairmen and stuff.
