Hostess Brands, the makers of Twinkies, Ho Hos, and Ding Dongs that declared bankruptcy in January, has filed paperwork with the state warning of at least 479 potential layoffs all over the state.

And it's not just a Florida thing -- reports of layoff warnings are coming out all over the country, with the cited number looking to be 18,500 jobs that could be lost nationwide due to restructuring.

Jacksonville stands to take the hardest hit in Florida, with 121 potential layoffs. Down here, there's a danger for 15 in West Palm Beach, 30 in Doral, and 39 in Oakland Park.

"The notices were sent to alert employees that a sale or wind down of the company is possible in the future," Hostess spokesman Erik Halvorson told the Baltimore Business Journal. "Our goal is still to emerge from bankruptcy as a growing company. There are no immediate actions being taken to sell or wind down the company."

Makes sense.

I cannot remember the last time I ate anyone of those things. If I want chocalate with icing then I get Oreos or something.

Plus with all the cheap knock-offs available..........

Yeah, makes sense.

Tallahassee: [discovers Hostess truck filled with Sno-Balls] Sno-Balls? Sno-Balls? Sno Balls? Where's the ****ing Twinkies?
Columbus: I love Sno-Balls.
Tallahassee: I hate coconut. Not the taste, consistency.
Columbus: [eats a Sno Ball] Fresh.
Tallahassee: Oh, this Twinkie thing, it ain't over yet.

No. About 6 weeks before they went belly-up they started featuring a soft oatmeal cookie (single) with white frosting. Very tasty and very addictive. They also had a molasses cookie with frosting but it wasn't the yummy goodness the oatmeal cookie was.

I'm further frustrated in my desert search because it's hard to find Bimbo products where I live. In fact it's impossible. I was hoping Bimbo would fill the void caused by Hostess but no such luck. Bimbo makes some great Mexican-style desserts.

'Sweetest comeback': Twinkies to hit shelves July 15

http://www.nbcnews.com/business/sweetest-comeback-twinkies-hit-shelves-july-15-6C10423619

Hostess is betting on a sweet comeback for Twinkies when they return to shelves next month.

The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure. It says it plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting July 15.

Based on the outpouring of nostalgia sparked by its demise, Hostess is expecting a blockbuster return next month for Twinkies and other sugary treats, such as CupCakes and Donettes. The company says the cakes will taste the same but that the boxes will now bare the tag line "The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever."

Those are custom-made Twinkies. Woody is a vegan IRL and Twinkies contain beef fat (for some reason).

Good thing they're back. LOL. I don't know how we've survived without them.
